its a bridge!!!!

This may be interesting when active but there was no activity when we were there. It is a drawbridge to allow ships to pass through harbor. It wasn't active when there.

Charming
Sep 2020
We had never been here before. We loved the harbor and the bridge. This is off the beaten path so it wasn't hard to find a parking place. We strolled along Bridge Street, looked into the shops, coffee shop and even a farmers market on Sunday. I wish there were more shops. Hopefully, other building will start renovations and add to the charm of this street.

Beautiful Bridge Street

Beautiful small town feel with amazing views. The assortment of restaurants and Shoppes make a great place to spend an afternoon or evening. The lights on the bridge are a must see at night!

Definitely worth going to see

Lots of great shops and restaurants to visit. Even for just a coffee, it is worth the drive. We enjoyed seeing the bridge up even. Visited form Columbus.

I had been several times on June when the beach glass festival was held and all the shops were open and was great! But i was really disappointing about this time in Saturday early September all the shops we’re closed!!! Even some of the restaurants, too bad!

What a disappointment

Better times and days are long gone here. The only interesting things were the bridge and reading all of the markers that told of the history of Ashtabula Harbor.

Disappointed after reading other reviews
Jul 2019 • Couples
Stopped here on a Tuesday afternoon while visiting the area after reading the reviews and did not find what many of the reviewers did. The area of shops and restaurants is much smaller than I had imagined and many of them were not open. There were a few bars and restaurants open and just a handful of shops. Several storefronts were empty and several others were closed even though their signs said they should be open. The ice cream shop boasted 18 flavors but there were only 8 and the popcorn we bought at the popcorn shop was stale. There is a small area around the river where you can watch the bridge and the boats with 3 or 4 benches. At least there is a free parking lot.

Adorable little town!
Jul 2019 • Family
We stopped here after the covered bridge to check out where the river meets the lake! We walked thru the cute little town and shops and came home with so many goodies from the small businesses. Got to see the draw bridge go up twice while we were there and watch the boats come in and out. Very clean area and friendly people!
