Unexpected aquatic bird feature
Jun 2020 • Couples
Others have written about this pleasant little park’s virtues and vices (admittedly, we didn’t have the occasion to notice most of either, since we spent only a short time there in the course of an otherwise unrelated trip) so I shall only add that if you are a bird/animal lover, you might be interested to know that there is a pond, protected by an unobtrusive metal fence, FULL of various species of ducks, geese, even swans, and other waterfowl enjoying themselves in a protected space for them. They apparently feel safe there, since they exit the pond at will and we almost hit a duck strutting nonchalantly across the park road, so drive carefully! One can buy bird feed from coin- operated vending machines wherewith to sustain our feathered friends. This park was a high point of our drive.

Not pet friendly! Geese poop ok. No alcohol here but special events are ok to drink. They give the impression but that's it.

Family reunion at lake shore park
Jun 2019 • Family
There’s plenty pavilion space for picnics. Plenty of room to enjoy the grass and hills of the park. Beach space is nice. You can feed ducks bread and take a dip in the lake. They have classic car cruises here also.

I love this place! I’ve been there many times. I have went with my German Shepherd alone. I have also gone with my teenage son. We both enjoyed it. Depending on wheat season you go there, you should be properly dressed. Wintertime wear boots and dress warm, Springtime prepare for it to be a bit muddy, but still enjoyable. Just plan on getting dirty! Summertime during the hot day, depending on how long you plan on being there, take some water and maybe a snack. Also, wear some bug/mosquito spray and watch out for poison ivy! Fall time is beautiful. The trees have changed colors and and the air feels clean and crisp. It would be great if there were some benches placed at certain intervals apart to stop and rest.

Perfect viewing of the water boat's ducks seagulls swimmers the sand between our toes and sun in our faces. They even have a car show and other things on the weekend. They support the Vet's in the area and more. Lots of parking bring your own food or enjoy the refreshments at the little hut type building and clean restrooms.

Love that they have a Christmas display! Summer months are great as well. See the animals, swim, play in the playground or grab a bite from the concession stand. There is also picnic tables.

We live in the area
Sep 2018 • Family
We live in Ashtabula Ohio. We go to both Walnut Beach and Lakeshore Park often. In September 2018 we took our four-year-old grandson to the park to play. There were approximately five or six other families with children at the park. As we were walking by the shore we heard a gunshot and looked up to see a camouflage boat on the other side of the Breakwall. They were shooting geese that were flying overhead. They shot a goose and it fell into the water at which time they put a dog into the water to retrieve it. Unfortunately the goose was not dead and it struggled with the dog in the water for about three or four minutes. All of this wihile children and families looked on. We called the police as well as calling the park and both of them told us there was nothing they could do because it was hunting season for geese. As long as the boat was on the other side of the Breakwall what they did with legal. That maybe true but the discretion of these hunters was very poor. Three of the families packed their things as quickly as possible and left the park. Perhaps there should be signs posted so that families can make decisions in regards to their visitations to this park.

Lake Erie - Beach, Large Pavilion & Restrooms
Aug 2018 • Family
Beach on Lake Erie has parking, pavilion with picnic tables and restrooms. The beach has lifeguards during daytime hours. The beach is a little rocky but manageable. The only downside was there was a lot of bird feathers flying around the ground at the time we visited. A nice place to visit if planning on a beach day on Lake Erie.

Beautiful Place
Aug 2017 • Couples
Park has many activities from rib burn offs to car cruise ins. It is a beautiful place to just sit on a swing under the covered picnic area and view Lake Erie. It is a nice place to take a stroll and check out the ducks, geese, and peacocks in the beautiful landscape. Then when you walk back to your car you have access to the concession stand and restrooms.
