A a member of club corp, we enjoy the ability to play great courses like Firestone. The service and food were exceptional. If you are staying overnight is the area, I would not recommend the townhouses on the course. Very basic and worn.

Most of you reading this article will never get the chance to play Firestone South. Lets face it people, it is an exclusive course that does not allow low lifes like most people reading this review probably hoping you knew me so I could take you on the course. So this article only will apply to small portion of the people reading this review.
First, if you are a Clubcorp member, never pay and stay to play the South Course like the poor sap that wrote that other review. Any intelligent Clubcorp member like myself, knows they open the South course every year for about month and half for cart fee only. Just watch the Signature Gold newsletter and you will see it. This year (2010) it is open June 1st to July 4th and they will open in September Iagain. The South is a fantastic golf course that is one of the best I have ever played. It is not Oakmont, which I have played, but is is very nice and you will love it. The entire complex is great and they treat you very well from the moment they meet you in the parking lot with your cart. The locker room is grand, and the food isn't bad in the grill. But is all about the golf and the South is great. The North course I think is harder and the West is a good golf course that is fun to play.

Have been to Firestone on multiple occasions and this by far has been the best. Upgrades to the facilities, landscaping, etc. Staff is helpful, food excellent...oh, and the golf - some of the best with the 3 courses.

Great golf courses, HORRIBLE accommodation.
We stayed at the villa at the Firestone Country Club which is advertised as "luxury villas". There was nothing luxury about it. It is, at best, a 2-star quality hotel/motel. Very thing walls which you can hear all the noises from your neighbors, 2 full sized super comfortable bed with very little spring left, linens are thin and rough. The room smells old and looks like it has not been updated for the last 30 years. Also, we had to share a common living room and kitchen area with people we have never met. When we made a reservation, no one told us that we will be share those space with strangers during COVID.
While the golf was excellent, the accommodation was a nightmare. Compared to the Villa, the nearby Residence Inn is luxurious.

My husband and I usually golf at Chippewa in Doylestown, but decided to try something different. Worst experience ever. I'll admit I'm not the best golfer and may take 6-7 shots on a single hole, but I don't think that is too uncommon. We literally had a grounds man following us around the entire time, counting our shoots and telling us to move on! REALLY?! A husband and wife couple in their mid-30's, and we needed to be monitored by a grounds man. He even had the nerve to ask why we hadn't started a hole, when the group in front of us was still on the green?! It was an average, un-busy, weekday afternoon. Maybe we weren't dress classy enough or didn't drive a nice enough care for their stuffy taste. I’m happy to go back to Chippewa, the course is much nicer anyway.

If you are familiar with the history of American golf then you have to attend a tournament here or if you are lucky and don't might spending the money for a once in a lifetime experience you need to play a round.
Both north and south courses are always in excellent condition. Clubhouse building is a museum of golfs past and present stars. Very clean facilties. Easy to get to off of I-77 Arlington Road exit.

Signed up for Stay and Play... two days, one night. Played the North and South courses. The courses were fantastic. Even with aeration on the North course, it was still great. The days were a bit cold and rainy. Most of the South course was open, but they sent 4 groups out in a bunch, so pace of play was needlessly slow.
The rest of the experience fell short of expectations. Forecaddie is required. Ours treated it more like he was walking the course rather than doing his job. Sometimes raked traps. Sometimes pulled pins. Sometimes saw your tee shot. Several times read my putt, only to have me challenge the read and him come back with, "Oh yeah. Now I see it." Second day I had to lend him my range finder because his was "stolen". He tarnished what should have been a great experience.
The room was a great view if you looked past the multitude of dead flies in the window sills.
Unoccupied room next door had an alarm go off at 6:00am. I searched for someone to shut it off. No one available in the men's locker room, so I went downstairs. Front desk wasn't occupied until 7. I finally found someone who asked if she could help. I explained the situation, but she wasn't able to help as women aren't allowed upstairs in the men's area. Understandable as the showers were located just off the bar/lounge, and several guests walked around in robes... or not.
Be advised that the rooms have no TV, no sink, no bathroom... just beds and a desk. You are there to golf. If you want to watch something on TV at night, you go to the bar.
Golf, including cart fees, caddie fees and caddie gratuity was $900 per person. Would have been more, but we got fall rates on the North course, not because of the time of year, but because the greens were aerated.
The clubhouse needs attention. May areas where the carpeting is frayed or torn.
It was my son's first time playing Firestone. The lack of professionalism by the caddie ruined it for him. We won't go back.

I recently traveled to Firestone for the Club Corp two person best ball tournament. From the moment that I checked into the hotel I was greeted by friendly front desk staff. My accommodations for the week were upstairs in the newly renovated dorm style locker room. This atmosphere alone was worth the trip itself. Dick Robbins is the consummate professional, managing the entire upstairs facility along with his well trained staff. Dick is truly a credit to the game of golf and the entire hospitality industry. He made me feel like a touring pro. The dorm style rooms were an incredible experience. The beds were very comfortable and the showers were world class.
I had several meals in the main restaurant of the hotel and the service was very consistent and friendly during each visit. The food was well above average. The atmosphere was very nice.
And why does Firestone exist. For no other reason than golf itself. Three incredible golf courses, each unique in their own right. The South course is a what you see is what you get golf course. Drive, the ball in the fairway keep it below the hole on your approach, get your par and get out of there. The North course is the most scenic of the 3 18 hole layouts. Water comes into play on roughly half of the holes. A great mix of short and long holes. Some great dogleg par 4 holes as well. Rounding out the 54 holes at Firestone is the Fazio (previously knows as the West course). Don't let this course fool you. While it may be the most tame of the 3 layouts the rough still exists and can wreak havoc if you are not driving the ball straight. The greens are very difficult as well. Great mix of holes.
Industry veteran Jay Walkinshaw manages the club and his background in golf and hospitality shine through. Director of Golf Tommy Moore does an outstanding job managing the golf operation. From the well stocked golf shop, to the caddie program, and driving range everything truly operates like a well oiled machine. I haven't seen a better and nicer stocked golf shop anywhere.
Finally, if you are flying to either Cleveland or Akron, you can arrange an airport shuttle. We were greeted by John upon our arrival into Cleveland and he gave us a great background of Firestone during our 45 minute drive from the airport to the club.
This is a trip you will not regret.

Firestone Country Club is a private course, but if you are a member of a ClubCorp course you have privileges here. I recommend taking advantage of these privileges.
My son and I decided to visit Firestone for a golf weekend and to stay in the dorm rooms in the men's locker room. What a great weekend. First we played the North Course which is unique as it incorporates significant water; a reservoir. The conditions were excellent, the speed of play was fast even thought it seemed busy, and the course was a lot of fun.
After this round we checked into the dorm room. It is basically a hotel room without the bathroom. You share the bathroom with the locker room. The room was comfortable and it had two beds. The locker room was very cool and included a bar. It was nice to relax with a cold one while prepping for dinner.
We ate at the main dining room and the food was excellent. I had a veal chop that was cooked to perfection. And the desserts we had were outstanding.
The next day we played the famed South Course. This is the course that has hosted a ton of professional events. We used the services of a forecaddie since the rough was so thick. Again, the conditions were perfect. The pace of play was outstanding but there were very few golfers on this course. The level of service at this club is outstanding from the golf to the locker room and beyond.
My son and I had a blast. We intend to go back some day and perhaps take the wife and stay in the villas.

I got a tour of this golf course . It's beautiful there three 18 hole courses.
It s a private course and also the PG A has tournaments there.
If you can ever get to golf there it would be worth the 250.00 per person

If you have a morning tee time (e.g., this coming Sunday) and it's raining, will you be able to play later in the afternoon?
