The Akron Zoo is such a nice zoo for little ones. It is significantly smaller than the Cleveland Zoo, in a good way. You can cover the whole place without becoming exhausted. They have little areas for the kids to play along the way. Our...More

My last visit to the Akron Zoo was for the Christmas light display. They had a fantastic display. It was a bit warmer that evening, but there was a misty rain. There was protection in the buildings that housed some animals. We got to see...More

Great little zoo with lots to do. The otters are amazing, and there's a carousel that the kids love to ride.

When we went the beginning of August, they did have foxes. The animals we did not see there were monkeys, elephants, and giraffes.

Toledo Zoo vs Akron Zoo (27 Replies)
I will be staying in Cleveland for 4 days and will visit the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Given that I am a huge zoo fan I want to check out as many as possible. If you had time for either the Akron Zoo or Toledo Zoo, which one would you visit and why? I will be alone or with another adult. Pricing and parking fees don't matter. Dining doesn't matter because I'll bring lunch. Thank you!

We, too are Zoo Buffs, and have visited the Big (and small) Zoos in the US, Britain, Europe, and Beijing. We have found the Toledo Zoo to be an excellent small attraction, and there are several other attraction in Toledo.
