Great 2 Days on water

I rented a pontoon boat for 2 full days from AB Watersports and I have to say it was one of the best times we've ever had while at the beach.. Mike and his staff were great to deal with, very professional and helpful. From the time we walked in the door till we returned the boat the second day, they were helpful, great sense of humor and at the end of both days were standing on the dock awaiting our arrival to assist us in unloading and taking our things to our vehicles.. Great Customer service..
we were looking for a location to find shells and not being a boater had a difficult time recognizing areas while out on the water. I remembered Mike telling me if I had and issues or questions to give him a call and first try he answered the phone and pretty much guided me right to the area we were looking for.. I highly recommend them for renting boats, jet skis or any of the other things they offer..

But we fill that if we provide a step above on our customer experience we keep smiles on our visitors faces. Great half day on the Cape Lookout Tour

Absolutely great day out on the water! Our family always does a water sport day. We have taken tour boats to Shackleford, tour boat through Taylor's Creek, rented a skiff for half a day to tool around, but this was the best water sport so far. Quite scary at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll go full throttle; water in the channel was choppy; once you get some smooth water, you'll open it up; stopped on Bird Island for sand dollars; slalomed through the estuary; swam a bit. Absolutely loved it; total thrill; families with small children had a blast; didn't go to the lighthouse because it is closed, but more time in smooth water was honestly a lot more fun than getting pounded in the ocean. Photos are impossible until your stopped; get guide or someone on shore to take pics as fly by; warning! when you reapply suncreen, grips get impossibly slippery! almost went swimming the hard way. Will definitely go back and do it again.

Fun jet ski adventure

Tip top experience! Our guide Jackson took us on a tour of the sound, by Shackleford banks where we saw wild horses and visited the Cape Lookout lighthouse. He was patient with me when I was learning to drive the JetSki. My husband and I had a lot of fun and would highly recommend this business and doing this as a fun activity at Atlantic Beach

Unsafe Conditions

Sent people out on jet skis when bad weather was approaching (dark clouds, thunder)- insisting it would not affect the ride (“cell is moving away from us”). Group was back on land within 15 minutes- however he still charged everyone for 30 minutes. Took advantage and stole money from our group.

Bait and Switch pricing

Web site pricing is different from final pricing.

Web site says $425 for a boat rental. Nope. It is $450 when you check out.
Web site says Gas and Tax is included in the price. Nope. They add $27 on top of the $450 for tax. When you call to ask about this, they say sorry, that is the price, it is a "transaction fee".

Super fun time on the water. Just lookout for the sand bars.😬

Absolutely fun time! Upon checking in, the staff provided a brief safety and operational review. Two experienced riders and two newbies, The two newbies quickly learned how to operate and maneuver without problem. They also identify sand bars that should be avoided. That being said, I headed straight to the sand bar🤦🏽‍♀️. Then the other 3 members of my group followed suit. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣. Super shoutout to Garrett for helping us get out of the sand. What a workout! We look forward to going back for the jet ski tour.

Trustworthy Business

I was so impressed with the owner. He is very customer focused and puts your safety and enjoyment above profit. I called a number of times to ask questions about the various options. First we wanted to rent kayaks and SUP's. When I called to ask some questions about it, he explained that he wasn't renting that afternoon due to high winds. He suggested that I call another business that was located in an area that wasn't as affected by wind. I also booked a jet ski tour. Unfortunately it was going to be very windy again that day. He cancelled because he said that even though it would have been technically safe enough to go, it wouldn't have been very fun. We received a full refund. When you go on an adventure like those offered by this type of business, you want to know that they prioritize safety over profit. You can definitely trust the folks at AB Watersports to do just that.

If you're looking for a great time, I recommend renting the jet skis! The people there are super friendly, they teach you the basics and then you're out there ripping the tides until the last minute. and trust me, an hour is a perfect amount of time for a group of three to have fun. Even for an unexperienced person like me.

Great time with pontoon

The team at AB Watersports was great. They went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. First day rental was cancelled because of wind advisory but they made sure we could get something else going for another time or have us option of a refund. Very friendly and helped plan our route because it was our first time in the area. When we come back in the future they are the only place we will rent from.

Unsafe and Irresponsible

I waited a few days before I am writing this review.

I paid for my daughter and myself to take part in the jet ski to Cape Lookout tour and it was a disaster. We were separated from the group for about 60% of the trip out by a few passing large boats and wakes while trying to keep up with an overzealous punk for a tour guide that felt full throttle was the way to go. At times, he was hardly in my view the gap was so wide. I would have turned around and gone back had I known the way back. My only hope was that the group would eventually stop. Which they did. But by then the experience was ruined. I had something to say to him about that and he was smart with me…said the rest of the group was with him…like oh well…my fault….

Mind you, at two other points, he left others in the group behind. I asked him twice to slow down…at that point not for me but for the others.

When we got to the lighthouse, he didn’t even stop there but across the way for like 5 minutes….then crossing to Shackleford Banks for the same amount of time before we went full throttle back.

I am an experienced jet skier and I have experienced other tour companies and have never had a bad experience….I cannot even fathom how anybody could think this was ok.

I wrote to the company. I appreciate the apology and that it was going to addressed in a staff meeting; I hope this makes it better for future guests…..but it still doesn’t make the experience I had any better or bring back the money doled out for this catastrophe. Therefore, I feel like this review is appropriate.

Lorie- Has I responded to the email I addressed the guide. However the JETski is a high performance water craft and is made to ride at a good pace. We you are in idol speed the jetski is hard to operate plus we will never make it to the points of interest. If you were looking for a slow pace event we would have recommended the ferry service. Again sorry we did not meet your expectations,
