The tour guide was super informative. Lots of great history about the Fort, technology of battle, step by step details of the battle. And it was free!

Fort Macon is a wonderful spot to visit whether you are a history buff, or just wanting to do something different on your vacation. It was renovated several years ago, refurbished, and a beautiful visitor's center was added. The visitor's center is a great place...More

The best part is most of the exhibits are inside nice AC. Lots to learn and explore. Our 7 & 11 year old boys loves the cannons. Beach access is right off the parking lot, but there are lots of warnings about strong riptides.

Loved this place!! Full of history and exhibits. The children, aged 2-13, loved learning about the history of the Civil War!! Definitely will be going back!!

Lots of walking, spots of shade to hide in, and history to learn. Spring and Fall would be better due to the crowds and heat but still worth it in the summer.

Arrived at five with fort closing in just thirty minutes it gave us little time to explore and the gift shop had already locked its doors. The grounds were beautiful and we gained so much insight about the life and times in the fort. It...More

This was the best fort state park that we've ever visited. We were there Memorial Day weekend and the staff were shooting off the Civil War cannons every two hours. The exhibits here are excellent and the most incredible thing is that everything is free....More

My husband and I visited this Fort. We love state parks and their history. Smaller than some of the Forts we've seen. Love it.

To my knowledge there is no place to dock a boat to go and visit the fort. The Coast Guard base is on one side and open beach on the other with no dock.
