A cozy spot with great selection
Aug 2017 • Couples
I actually go in regularly to purchase the fantastic soaps they have available. There is also a tremendous selection of wonderful teas. I'm not a knitter myself, but there's a really impressive selection of many different types of materials. There's also a classroom attached where people can learn/practice. It's very cozy and comfortable, with a quiet couch sitting area if you want to knit or drink your coffee. The owner Michele is really friendly and knows her stuff.

This is a wonderful knit and tea store. Beautiful yarns and patterns along with knitting and crocheting needles etc. A wonderful place to find a special knitter/crocheter a special gift or even just a gift certificate. They also have a wonderful assortment of teas and tea pots/tea cups etc. A very warm and cozy store and well worth the stop if you have a little extra time.

Yarn and Sewing, Too! Worth a Visit.
Mar 2017
If I lived in Cary, I'd want to live close to DownTown Knits. Great store. Comfortable-looking sitting area on the yarn side; big, sunny, colorful area on the sewing side with good displays. Great combination store. Beautiful selection of yarns and tools, all nicely organized. Fun and modern fabrics. Glad I got to stop by; would certainly visit again. In fact, I need to, to take it all in! Must have more time next visit.

Great Shop - Ask about return policy before buying
Jan 2016 • Solo
I recently visited this shop & was impressed with the selection of wonderful yarns they carry. I was specifically looking for yarn for a baby sweater, & unfortunately, that selection was a bit limited. With the help of the woman there (not the owner), I selected an alternate yarn. We chatted for a while, since there was no one else in the shop, so she knew I was not from the area. I paid for my yarn & left, very satisfied. However, the mom whose baby I was planning the sweater for wasn't real thrilled with the yarn. When I tried to return it a few days later, I talked to the owner. She was sort of snippy & said I should have read the receipt - exchanges only within 30 days, no returns. We were on our way out of town & I had no time to look for something else. So I guess I'm stuck with this yarn. By the time you have a receipt in hand to read isn't it too late??? I really think someone should have explained their policy before I spent $60 for several kinds of yarn!

Ignoring that one issue, I think it's a great shop. Wish I lived closer so I could take advantage of all the classes offered, the wonderful yarn, and all the help offered. Just be very very sure you're happy with anything you buy.

Any yarn you could imagine

This is a fairly new shop in the beautiful updated downtown of Apex. Classes of all kinds are offered and there is usually a group of women just relaxing and spending time in the lounging area while they work on their individual projects of knitting or crocheting.

Downtown knits opened a few years ago and I have been meaning to review it for all my fellow travelling knitters. If you are in the area of Apex, NC (resident or visitor) and you are into any fiberarts, Downtonwn Knits is a place to come and visit. Michelle the owner is wonderful, welcoming and extremely knowledgeable on all things fiber related. The shop is fully of wonderful yarns which range from cotton to cashmere with everything in between. She carries quite a variety of locally produced and/or dyed yarns for those of you looking for just the right 'souvenir' yarn. The shop has a clean, spacey and modern feel but is warm and welcoming. There is a 'lounge' in the back complete with 2 sofas a variety of chairs and a coffee table as well as a sitdown table and chairs. Friday nights are the 'knit nights' with crocheters, knitters and everythiing else coming together to craft and talk and laugh.

Downtown Knits offers a good variety of classes for those interested in expanding their crafting horizons. All the supplies, equipment and knick knacks you could ever want are there for you. Downtown Apex is a lovely little area with many independent shops, galleries and restaurants. There is something for everyone and a walk up and down the streets after visiting Downtown Knits will surely leave you happy to have come there.

Definitely make the time to visit this lovely shop. You won't be disappointed.
