we spent weekend at the crosswinds campground. the sites were nicely spread out and shaded, and our site was just across the road from the bathhouse (sinks, toilets, showers). there is swimming beach access for campers only, but from section A, it would be a long walk-especially with kids. limited parking is available at the beach. ticks are very bad,... We stayed at the Painter's Creek Campground at the Jordan Lake State Recreation Area. The campground was clean and quiet and the staff was friendly. We stayed over the Independence Day weekend and expected some noise and revelry, but were pleasantly surprised. We stayed in a travel trailer and did not visit the bathhouses. The camping sites are good sized... More

We had a wonderful evening with David Griffin on his pontoon. He was great at explaining what animals we were looking at and explaining things to the kids on the boat. It was a wonderful way to spend an evening.

If you ever get the chance to rent a pontoon boat by all means do so!! It's a lovely way to spend the morning or afternoon exploring the waterways. Also, if you have a good group of people you can rent it for 30-40/person, just be clear that they wont cancel you reservation for weather and it does require a... More

NC Rangers like walking around at night playing the campers against each other saying they have called in a complaint just so they can walk around and look into your campsite with binoculars. Complained to Jay Greenwood , who is over Jordan, he doesn't seem to care, so we will have to go on up the ladder. This was at... More

We stayed in Loop J at spot 26. Friday before memorial day my husband and I decided to do a mini trip. We found one of the last spots and it was awesome. The people around us were able to dock their boats because we were lakefront. It was shaded well. If we wanted to we could have gone swimming.... More

Ahh, imagine taking your kayak, canoe, or paddle board out for a relaxing trip across the open waters. Now play the sound of a record player needle being pulled across a vinyl record. That was triggered by the sound of a pack of jet skis ripping past you and your kayak rocking in their wake. Jordan Lake has a huge... More

Great park, poplar point campground sites are very large and private. Clean restrooms, flat areas to ride bikes. The beach at poplar point was really nice, not too crowded even though it was Memorial Day weekend. I will say ticks are pervasive, and I had read this in other reviews and found it to be true. Picked 4 of me... More

For the past two years, we have stopped for a night at Poplar Point, Jordan Lake while traveling and found it a restful and very nicely kept park with hookups to charge our van while dry camping elsewhere. We saw a full complement of families enjoying the lake in all types of crafts, and we tested our inflatable kayak with... More

We stayed at Cross Winds for Easter Weekend with five other families. We enjoyed camping on the lake with a small beach within walking distance. The kids enjoyed the water, kayaking, and riding their bikes around the campground. The sites are spacious, with plenty of room and trees between them. The sites are gravel and have a large pad with... More
