Given the vintage shops and RTW stores, I also like the discrete pubs here. The live band completes the package also, as well as the idea that it is like a poetry: creative, happy and sad, honest and fun.

I went with my GF to check this place out. Lonely Planet made it sound great: a collection of cool bars and underground music venues where we'd be sure to find something.. Instead we found two streets of tiny little Filipino bars (half outdoor) and...More

Located in the shadow of towering condominium blocks, some freshly constructed, and a stone's throw from the usual malls that dominate Manila's urban landscape, this pocket of shops and eateries at one end of bustling Araneta Center makes an excellent hideaway for anybody wanting to...More

A pocket of character in grimy (or sanitized, depending on where you're looking) Cubao. In particular, Fred's Revolucion is where NGO workers and artsy students (mostly from UP) hang out. Cheap beer (P45 for Brew Kettle and P50 for San Mig Lite) with a bit...More

While the rest of Cubao is being gentrified with condominium developments and strip malls, Cubao Expo stands bravely as a testament to independent entrepreneurship and free-spirit. Cafes, bars, and restos are chill, shops are unique, and the people relaxed. I hope it doesn't get torn...More
