With the precedence of the Shrine of the Black Nazarene, also known as Quiapo Church, some of the less known but equally outstanding sites of Catholic worship, stand silently beside and behind. Such as, the Sta. Cruz Church. In truth, its design is more contemporary than Quiapo: it is adjacent to Escolta, formerly the commercial and social 'main street' of... More

Plaza Santa Cruz is so rundown compared to the time of my college days. It is filled with street dwellers, sidewalk vendors, illegal occupants. And the place stinks with uncollected garbage

Santa Cruz Church is one of the oldest churches in Manila and probably in the Philippines as well. Many people would use this place as a landmark when they are going to do meet-ups, but of course, you go here to attend the mass.

This religious place, a catholic church, was established 396 years ago as a parish for the Filipino and Chinese around the area. By 2019, they are going to celebrate its 400 years as a parish. In 1957 this parish was transformed into a Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament in the midst of Manila, by no less, the late Archbishop, Rufino... More

Sta. Cruz Church in Manila is surrounded by three open spaces; in front is Plaza Santa Cruz where the Carriedo Fountain is reinstalled; Plaza Goiti, now known as Plaza Lacson at the rear and a wide street on the right leading to Santa Cruz Bridge.

We were here last Sunday to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of the Pilar. We heared Mass and joined the procession. The place is so nostalgic and great. Parking within the church premise may be small but you can park outside. The place is also accessible via public transport and food places (fast food and restaurant) are accessible nearby.

This is an old church in Sta. Cruz, Manila. Very accessible via LRT line one (1) Just alight at Carriedo Station then walk to your left. Catholics from all walks of like frequent this church.
