If you are a shopper or you now live in Antipolo as I do shopping before or after church is a delight. You may not buy anything but it gives you an idea of what is available. We don't have street markets and I enjoy them immensely and there are many in Antipolo around the big malls that are everywhere. The products are NOT seconds but high quality and I bought a number of things from electrical items for my house to shoes and stuff like that including wallets. It is a shopper paradise and walking from the street shops to the mall - in and out - are just great.

If you have patience and dont mind long walks then this is the place to go if you are shopping for bargains. They have nearly everything one would look for at cheap prices.. I've shopped at green hills and feel that you will get better deals here as long as you have patience..

This is where you can find the cheapest things in the whole metro. Prices are usually 50% to 70% cheaper than malls and department stores. And they have the exact same items most of the time! Tips for a stress free shopping experience:
1. go early. this makes parking easier and lesser shoppers. you can park nearer to the mall entrance so that you can drop off your shopping goods when they get heavy. i think the mall opens around 9am but sometimes they open as early as 8am when Christmas season nears.
2. wear comfy clothes and shoes.
3. bring water, wet ones, ecobags and other essentials.
4. use a "theft" proof techniques like keeping bags in front of you, not bringing out your cellphones, keeping money in different pockets, etc.
5. haggle haggle haggle! prices go lower if you buy more! when they say "wholesale", it is usually 6 pcs.
6. have early lunch to avoid the lunch mob.
7. be wary of cheaper quality goods, most are imitations.
8. if buying electronic stuff, maybe its best to ask for a receipt and warranty requirements.
9. leave the kids at home if you plan to shop for a lot of items

It ts really a great place to shop for Christmas gifts esp if you plan to buy by bulk like for your kids' party loot bags, gifts for classmates, office personnel, teachers, etc.

Some ideas of the prices:
Christmas wrappers or gift bags. Wrappers are around P2, bags depend on the size and material. Nice korean notebooks and stationery (P40 to P70), Chinese red calendars (8x11-P12- P15 depending on quality and quantity), Plastic envelopes with disney designs (P25-P30), Markers, pens, signpens (P25-P50), Towels (P50-P100), Bath mat (P80-P150), Tote bags, shoe bags, mini backpack, messenger bags (P60, if its imitation of a brand P100), ladies accesories (P25-P70). I bought some ladies evening clutch at P100 only when the exact thing is being sold at a boutique store for P800.

Similar to 999 next door.
As a tourist I'd be looking for Filipino products. 168 is full of CHINA products with mainlanders setting up stores there & hiring locals to work for them. Yes, they are cheap but they are mass produced & lack substance.
Greenhills mall & Tiendesitas have more Pinoy made products. I'd head there as a tourist. I'd rather give my money to hardworking Filipinos.

Went here to buy some give aways for the Chinese New year. The Sales lady were too busy flirting with the porters from the other stores. After calling their attention numerous times. The sales lady finally acknowledged my presence.
The price she gave me was 100% higher than the other stores. To think they have signs saying they have the best market in the place. I asked for a bargain. But she just shrugged me off . I guess they didnt want to do business with me because theyd rather flirt with the porters. I experienced the same thing from 2 other stores. I just decided to leave.

Also, Parking is hell here and lots of Crooked cops around the vicinity. Be warned
Not a tourist friendly palce

I really liked this mall
They have everything you want
But be careful the street is so unsafe and crowded
Try to get there by cab and don’t wear a handbag PLEASE (i ended up paying for an employee who work there to walk with me along the street because it’s dangerous and full of theft and pickpockets)

Beware of guys in disguise! There were a lot of very strange looking women there...something seemed off. After hearing them speak and taking another look at them, many of the women working at 168 Mall were men. Many.

168 Mall is known for the value. Meaning, everything is made of poor quality or an imitation of a respectable product. For full stories of my trip, search for the Danger Avoider blog.
