The Victoria Market is definitely worth the visit. Lots of choices for fruit, vegetables, fish and even souvenirs. We bought vanilla. Lots to see to get an idea of Seychelles life

A little market where you can buy local fruit and fish. If you are looking a souvenir this place is the right location. You can spend about 30 minutes to visit it.

Worth a visit. Nice Victorian (?) architecture and good selection of goods on offer with no hard sell or pressure.

Spend a hour here. Walking around and look on the nice fruit, fish etc. It is genuine. Do not miss the cafe one floor up. Great Latte.

One of the few things you want to see on Mahé / Victoria. Not really spectacular but still nice to see. If you are there, also have a look at the Hindu temple nearby.

Well you can’t miss this market right in the heart of Victoria. An attack on the senses with flies all over the fish produce on a hot day, be prepared for some strong odours. We found the fruit overpriced for a market. Did not spend...More

Very small market. Limited fresh produce, uninteresting as concerns the rest. In general, Seychelles (opposite to what one would think) offer a very limited variety of fresh fruits and vegetables compared to countries of same region. Obviously, size and focus on tourism play their role

1/2 days itineries for Mahe (6 Replies)
In case I choose a flight which reaches mid morning (that is the cheapest for me) at about 10.30 AM, and I check in to a hotel(around beau vallon or victoria area). Then on the same day, how feasible is it to cover the below attractions with snorkelling on either Beau vallon or port launey(preferably port launey).?. . Beau vallon, port launey, , bicentinnel monument, hindu temple (arul mihu), kotmanya exotic flower garden, ben clock, , Victoria market. Also on my day of departure if my...More

Everything closed on 19 April (Sat)? (2 Replies)
Dear all, We will arrive at Mahe on 19 April Saturday morning. We have booked a taxi to pick us up from the airport around 7:30am and do a city tour to the Victoria Market, the town centre, the Mission Lodge and then the tea plantation/factory before checking in our hotel in the afternoon. But just got a message from our hotel telling us that 19 April is a public holiday, all shops will be closed and we should not go any city tour. Is it true? Will the market and the mission etc. be closed...More

7d/8n itinerary idea (7 Replies)
Hello everyone, I have come up with an itinerary for our honeymoon in September, and I wanted to check with all the experienced members here. The first 4 days will be spent on Praslin, the next 4 on Mahe. Please note that since we don't have a driver's license hiring a car is no option :( we would like to rent a bike or hike as much as possible, since we don't want to spend too much money on cabs. I'm struggling with finding things to do on Mahé... Maybe we should take a late flight...More

Hi Lali, If everything goes well you will be in your room at Acajou at 9.30 am. On Day 2 you can take the bus to get to Anse Lazio I don't recommend hiking or biking from Cote d'Or to Anse Lazio. There are 8 km to Anse Lazio and the road is quite steep so it's better to stick to the bus but check the timetable first. I am a good cyclist and definitely I would be exhausted to climb the steep road near Raffles. Day 3 is doable but take the first ferry to La Digue and the last to Praslin. ...More
