The Mission Lookout is an interesting historical place to visit. The view from the lookout point is beautiful but there are many other great look out spots. If you are in the area definitely go and check it out but it’s not a must see.

Mission Lodge Viewpoint is one of the best viewpoints in Mahe and it is quite easy and convenient to reach as well. You can easily take a bus from Victoria Bus stand to the Mission Lodge bus stop and then enter this place.

There is no entrance fee and you have to walk 5 minutes to reach the exact viewpoint. From here, you can witness the surrounding mountains and the island coast which is absolutely gorgeous. One can easily spend a few hours here, enjoying the view.

As it it directly at the road you should stop there to capture the amazing view...especially when its cloudy and little rainy it has a magical touch in my opinion...and one you are there you should go to morne blanc...its not far!!!

Mahe is not all beaches and this place proves why.. On a clear day, this place will offer a million dollar view. The way to reach this place is little steep, careful if you are driving a rented car.

This place was officially opened by the Queen of UK in the 1970s. The mission lodge was were local missionaries taught children. From the lodge to the lookout, you will walk along a small trail that has many trees, identifed with their scientific name. All in all a good visit.

One can get a beautiful and clear view of the island from here. On the way the trees are clearly labelled and there are a few birds in the area.

Great views across the island but the ruins are minimal. Stop and take a look if you hire a car and are passing but I wouldn’t personally recommend making a specific bus or taxi ride to visit. There is information about the site to understand the history.

Most people stick to the beaches but the mountains in Seychelles are beautiful. We had a hire car. Saw tour buses there. Historically very interesting.

I just witnessed a possible scam at Mission Lodge.
And I verified, when I referred it to the hotel where I am staying, that has happened already:
We went to Mission Lodge with a rental car at about 5pm and we were the only ones there.
While on location, a local tour guide arrived with a couple of American tourists.
First he insisted to know if the car parked was ours. Then he asked us very loudly if we had any valuable in our car, saying in late afternoon, where there is no guard at the entrance of the place, it happens that thieves break into cars.
We said we didn’t have any valuable.
After 10 mins we heard a smashing noise.
We went back to the parking and we saw his car’s window smashed, all doors open and the two American tourists said their bags that were inside the car, were stolen. The situation to us seemed dodgy because the local guide warned us about possible thieves while he let their clients leave their bags in his car.
And also the way he questioned us was strange.
It looked to us that it was a set up made by the guide and an accomplice.
Regardless, DO NOT leave any valuable in the car.

The story of the mission is a fascinating story. There is a nice walk around the ruins. But, by far,the highlight is the view over Mane's amazing green hills and the sea.
