We took a stroll down to the beach on a Saturday afternoon.. There were a few people in the beach, but not too full.. The water was amazingly warm and the kids had loads of fun! 🎉 Stunning views from the beach.. Only modest swimwear...More

This beach is for the locals and not really recommended for tourists who want a "real" beach experience. You must also wear appropriate clothing if you do go swimming, meaning no western-styled bathing suits.

"ARTIFICIAL BEACH" is situated on the east coast of the Island. Locals bath and swim in this shallow piece of protected sea beach akin to a fresh water swimming pool. The newly commissioned "SINAMALE'( China- Maldives Friendship)Bridge" is in the distance facing Artificial beach. .

Normally the sea around Male is deep and you will not be able to have a sea bath. But the artificial beach in Male will fulfill that requirement. Its safe to have a sea bath and swim here.

The water is fine but the beach was littered with plastic and rubbish. Given other choices I would not swim here but I saw tourists who were. A pleasant place to sit in the shade for a quick snack.

May not be the best beach in the world but.... Sitting in the restaurant overseeing the beach, sipping a fruit cocktail or munching on some barbecued chicken, away from the hassle and bustle of the roads just behind is definitely cool for a well deserved...More
