We popped over to Male city as our flight out was several hours later. We wandered around (with a guide), seeing the sites, spending too much money on gifts (save it for the airport duty free), and eventually hitting the market. The market is very...More

Male is probably the smallest city in the entire world. You can walk through the entire city. A one hour tour on foot is sufficient to cover the whole city. Shopping is very expensive since everything is imported in the island. The only thing which...More

The Male Fish Market is where everyone goes but the Produce Market is also worth a visit for its colourful bananas, egg plant and more.

I found this market very interesting. The coconut water was very fresh. The local fruits and vegetables are sold at very reasonable price.

For an island in the middle of the Indian Ocean the Male Fruit & Vegetable market is very well stocked and can sustain a very healthy lifestyle. Yet Vegetables are not high on the average Maldivian's daily menu.

Close to the ferry station and full of strange exotic fruits and vegetables. Grab a coconut juice when you get in, you can drink it with a straw straight from a real coconut. You can spend quite a lot of time there, because there are...More

It was a good experience walking through the market areas and we tried their coconut that was freshly cut for us to quench our thirst in the heat of Maldives. Do try their “Aadu Bondi” which is a local delicacy made of coconut and it...More

We visited the market as part of a walking tour of the town. Quite a busy market but not in any way unusual. Overall our tour revealed a very busy, bustling, quite dirty, hot and humid town that had little in the way of attraction....More

It's pretty much in the middle of the northern shore. If you're at Republic Square (the main square with the big flag) and facing the sea, turn left along the coast and it's a minute or two away.
