Seeing as fish is essentially the lifeline food staple of the Maldives, this place is where much of the incoming product comes into sale to the local public. It's raw, real, fresh, and of course, odoriferous, but the real deal and it was kind of...More

We visited the fish market during our dive trip live aboard, amazing amount of fish and it makes you wonder if there are any fish left in these seas. Some sizeable tuna and a real assortment of other species.

Been there twice with 12 years interval. Nothing changed. Same familiar environment and same types of fish - mostly Tuna which seems to be most popular fish in Maldives.

Malé Fish Market is very close to the fishing boat harbor and quite small. Most of the fish is tuna but I saw one sail fish too. It’s quite smelly but so are all fish markets.
