How do you know you had an exceptionally wonderful trip? When you're absolutely depressed to be going home. Scubaspa made it a point to under sell and over deliver on every dive site. The briefs were clear and they made a point to always talk about diving etiquette which I loved. Sunny was our dive guide and is THE BEST dive guide I've had in all my dives. Did my 100th (and over) dive with him, and no regrets. Even though I didn't follow tradition exactly, I got a hand made flag and poster commemorating my 100th dive that he made for me! Awwww. Sweetness beyond. Got super awesome macro shots cause Sunny is a great spotter and always took care of us every step of each dive. All the dive guides were so fun and professional at the same time.
All the food was amazingggg, and staff were so friendly and accommodating - I don't know how you guys do it every week for months on end.
Definitely recommend this trip even for non-divers cause the snorkelers had a fabulous time as well.
Will definitely come back to dive with you again. Thank you for the most memorable trip ever!

Where to start? I had an amazing experience on ScubaSpa Maldives and would recommend it to anyone interested in adventure, unique experiences, delicious food and exploring lots of different parts of the Maldives. Thomas and his crew really know how to take care of their guests, from the moment we stepped on board, to the moment they saw us off. We made a few requests, (deck parties, etc), and they went above and beyond. Another guest said, “They just keep exceeding our expectations.” I couldn’t have said it better myself. I have a food allergy and Rani (thank you, Rani!!), Mehedi and Chef Warunda went out of their way to make sure they had all the options prepared for me. Riuman was my snorkel guide and made sure I got to see all the things I was hoping for. The diving team is amazing and really connected with us, Sabrina is a fantastic teacher. And Teygo took me on my first ever dive, which was magical and I felt very safe. Sajeev was the bartender for the week, and was always ready for us with a genuine smile. I’m going to really miss the other guests and the crew. Cannot wait to come back for another trip! Soon, I hope!!!

Hard to cover everything in a review, but in short the trip with ScubaSpa was amazing! I am an intermediate diver and this trip had challenging and relaxing dives for me, and my non-diver wife had the amazing spa and a lot of great snorkeling opportunities to make it a very full and fun trip for her as well.
The dive staff led by Charly was amazing, and my guide Alexis was top-notch. They really are trying to give everyone the best experience possible while remaining focused on safety and proper procedures. Not what I've experienced with every operator.
Hard to overstate how nice the experience was overall and it exceeded all expectations for what a week on a liveaboard could be. The food service was really over the top with a wide variety of offerings that I'd expect at a pricey restaurant, not a boat in the middle of an atoll. Every staff member could not have gone more out of their way to ensure that we had what we wanted at all times, and "no" was never an answer.
I will certainly be back to dive with the ScubaSpa crew again, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for their dream Maldives dive vacation!

We had some doubts initially because of the price tag, but it was worth every single dollar! It was perfect from beginning to end. The boat was beyond our imagination, and the diving sites were just wow. But it was the staff who made this whole experience into one of the best weeks of our lives! Rain or sun, they always smiled and went to great lengths to make sure we had the best experience. There was always a plan B, or C to make us happy when the weather messed thing up. We honestly loved all the staff members! First of all, Alexis who is the best dive instructor we ever had and who always made us feel safe under water, even with some small current +++, she made sure diving in the Maldives is now on top of our list of best experiences! And Charlie who made a killer itinerary and hit all the right diving and beach spots. Mahedi and Rani who we absolutely adored because they lighted up our meals and our days in general with their enthousiasm and involvement, and thanks to Rani I am now able to impress my dinner guests with Manta-napkins.
And there was Ahmed and Pavel, the doni crew who filled our tanks, helped us with our daisy chains, gave us our fins when we were all geared up and couldn’t reach them and made sure we got off the boat and into the water safely. Also shout out to the most hard working kitchen staff I have ever met. From morning to late in the night, always working to provide us with the most incredible food. From breakfast to dinner, pure delight and five stars! Even the housekeeping Ruman and Rubel went the extra mile to make sure we always came back to a clean room and even made us a bed on the deck of the boat for a romantic night under the stars. So we absolutely adored them! And most importantly, Sajev and Shahadat worked their magic behind the bar and made sure we got our coffee before diving, personalised with the theme of the day (my favourite was the hammerhead latté, next level!!), and made THE best cocktails I ever tasted.
And last but certainly not least, there is our favourite South-African, Branden, our cruise director, who made sure everything on and off board went smoothly and I don’t know anyone who could have done a better job than him. Keep up the good work guys, because you’re doing such an amazing job! We definitely hope to come back some day.

Being a non-diving partner of a passionate diver, we've had our fair share of liveaboards. Some were pretty nice although always a bit cramped with few options for lounging space and limited non-diving activities. I have to admit that my excitement for visiting the Maldives was somewhat dampened by the prospect of spending my trip on another liveaboard. Scubaspa blew away my expectations, it is a category unto itself.
My review focuses on experiences other than diving (which was very apparent that it did not disappoint). The boat itself is spacious and luxurious with an entire deck dedicated to a beautiful spa and zen like lounge area. There are several other lounges, some intimate feeling like the canopied double loungers, and others more communal. All are cushy and resort-like. The roof deck hot tub was perfect for stargazing. Glistening winding stairways, low lighting, stone veneered walls, warm wood floors, plants and objets give a stylish and personal vibe throughout. The deck bar and huge dining room always had a nice buzz of energy. Finding a quiet spot to appreciate the Indian Ocean was always easy. We were three in our cabin with five suitcases, some large (we had other travel) and were able to stash all of them out of our way. That made the cabin with it's roomy bathroom pleasant, especially with the daily housekeeping that kept our water bottles filled and linens fresh.
All said, it is the crew that sets Scubaspa apart. They made sure that we had the utmost safety, attention, and care possible—above and beyond with a warm smile. Working late into the night and up before dawn, it didn't escape any of us how dedicated each and every one of them were, including those we seldom saw in operations.
Every meal was outstanding and creative. After a week of getting to know a little about our servers, one starts to care about them. There's Mahedi and Jim, who quickly identified our favorite flavors and brought us special treats from the kitchen; it's hard not to miss them. And then Carl, the cruise director, sincere and always there for you, he saw that everything ran smoothly.
Tini and the other talented masseuses were gracious, strong and tender. Jahvid, Buddy, all the other guides and dhoni drivers expertly tracked wildlife and made sure that our frequent dive, snorkel and beach trips were the best—they have all made their way into a memory that we we'll never forget.
It's hard not to go on and on about how Scubaspa made visiting the Maldives special and getting it so right. The one change we think would be noticeable is to offer coffee, tea and soft drinks free of charge throughout the day. Other liveaboards and most hotels offer these refreshments gratis, a small gesture that goes far.
Getting to the Maldives from the states is quite the trek, but it was worth every minute. We hope to return for more and it will be with Scubaspa.

One of the best trips I have ever been on. I was a bit apprehensive before booking, partly due to the cost and partly due to being a solo traveller but it far exceeded any expectations and I suspect has ruined all other liveaboards for me! I chose Scubaspa as I haven’t done a liveaboard before and liked that they offer amazing diving but also the additional experiences, like the spa, beach visits and water sports. From start to finish the whole experience was so polished. Where to start… the accommodation is 5 star - it’s like a floating hotel. The food is phenomenal and the kitchen staff work so hard and Rani and Webi were amazing front of house, making such an effort to learn everyone’s names from the off. Shout out to Sajiv and Abey on the bar too for keeping me in margaritas and wine! The dives are incredibly well planned and the presentations are so professional - I was very impressed by the knowledge of all the dive sites (and apparently these do change on a weekly basis so if you go back you aren’t doing exactly the same). The diving itself is unreal. I was struggling to think of things I still wanted to see. The mantas and the whale sharks were definitely a highlight, but I also loved one of the pinnacle dives (I think it was Fish Head) which had beautiful coral and so many yellow snapper you could lose your buddy in them! The people I met on board were amazing. As noted, I was a bit anxious being a solo traveller but everyone was so friendly and we were all firm friends by the end. There was a real mixture of ability (some people were still completing open water) but they did a great job of splitting us into groups. Last but by no means least, what really made the week was the staff. Antoine was an amazing manager and did a great job of making everyone feel welcome and part of the dive family. All of the guides are phenomenal. They know the sites so well (including dropping a bit further out to allow me longer to equalise), kept us all so safe at all times and were warm and funny. Particular shout out to Javid, our Rasta merman, but we also had Bryony, Alexis, Sunny, Akki and Buddy (I hope I haven’t forgotten anyone!) who are all absolutely fantastic. The boat staff are also amazing. It’s valet diving and I don’t think my mask has ever been so clean! It is expensive, and things like drinks and any extra spa treatments (depending on your package), dive gear and nitrox are extra, but if you are having any reservations just book it - I promise you won’t regret it!

Wow, where do I start?! I had read all of the great reviews about Scubaspa before I booked so knew it must be pretty good. However, I can honestly say, even with this is mind, it well and truly exceeded my expectations.
Firstly the idea of a Diving and Spa boat that caters for everyone is genius!
My initial conversation was with Iza, part of the Head Office team at Scubaspa. Iza was unbelievably helpful and to be honest was the reason I actually booked. She was so patient, friendly and professional as she answered my hundreds of questions! I can’t praise her enough.
The boat is just beautiful. I don’t know how I will ever be able to go on another Liveaboard after this. (Although I have heard Scubaspa have just set up in Indonesia so this could well be the next trip!)
The amount of planning and work that goes into every single aspect and the attention to detail was second to none.
The crew were absolutely superb. A special shout out to Sunny, our Dive Guide and Instructor. Sunny was excellent, he took great care of all of us, helping even the most experienced divers to become even better. He spent a lot of time helping me get my weights and buoyancy just right and I always felt extremely safe with him. He also has an amazing ability to spot the smallest of things under water! Literally some creatures the size of a grain of rice!
The dive briefings by all of the dive crew before each dive were extremely informative, clear and helpful. This made us feel comfortable and well prepared.
Scubaspa is equally brilliant for snorkelers who were also able to experience the fantastic marine life.
Sabrina in the Dive team too, is a huge credit to the crew. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what she does and consistently went out of her way to help every single guest.
The food is unbelievable, we were spoilt rotten. My only complaint is I put on about 2 stone! The vegetarian options were creative and delicious. They were also kept separate to the meat dishes which was appreciated.
Another special shout out to Jim in the restaurant who is an absolute legend, always smiling and constantly going above and beyond to ensure everyone has everything they need and more.
All of the crew and the operations were overseen so efficiently by Branden the Cruise Director who warmly welcomed every guest onto the boat and worked so hard to ensure everything ran like clockwork.
I wish I could mention everyone by name, they were all fantastic. The brilliant bar staff, the Captain and his team, the dhoni crew, the boat engineers, the chefs, the spa and yoga staff, housekeeping. I honestly don’t know how you all do it but it was an absolute trip of a lifetime. Thank you all so much and I really hope to see you again!

I was so tentative booking our first diving trip but I really shouldn’t have worried. The seas are calm and for relatively new divers it was completely incredible (and has made us obsessed with the sport). This was one of the BEST trips we have EVER done. The abundance of wildlife (we spotted dolphins, whale sharks, SO many mantas, different coral/fishes) it was just non-stop beautiful dive after beautiful dive. And not to mention the beautiful boat. We stayed in the Dolphin suite (though not sure if it was that different to the other rooms other than the window) it was on the main deck.
The service/crew couldn’t have been more hospitable. From the plentiful and delicious, healthy vegetarian food (thank you Jim and Webbe/chefs), you even have fresh made to order eggs in the morning! The service at the bar and the room cleaning was always at a really high standard. They went above and beyond to try and make this trip special from beach trips, sunset cocktails and dinners under the stars. It was just incredible memory after incredible memory.
A massive thank you to our dive masters- Buddy especially who was so patient, calm and kind (the best dive instructor I’ve had) despite having a relatively inexperienced group, he managed it seamlessly and with such good humour. Sami and Charly were also always on hand to answer any questions.
I can’t explain how insane this trip is. Although it’s pricey they really do make it worth your while. My only feedback would be to make the price of dive hire and the additional charge of the night dives (if you’re only open water) + taxes really clear upon booking as that can really add up at the end of the bill. However, we don’t have any regrets and are planning for our next trip already.

After two and half years haven’t jumped into water, I have to say scubaspa blew up my mind.
10 out of 10 to all of the crews onboard who made this journey so unique and outstanding!
Big thanks to all the dive guides : Jah vid, Teygo, Buddy and Ali who gave us every comprehensive briefing and showed us the amazing underwater world in Maldives. They are true ocean artists and excellent blackboard painters
The diving boat is well maintained and clean, after every dive , you can rinse off and enjoy some snacks . Coconut is my favorite~
Also thanks to ALL the crews who’s taking care of our day to day life, made these moments happen. especially thanks to:
Carl - the cruise director, thanks for organizing all these magic moments .
Jim and Mahedi who were taking care of everyone’s needs and make sure we are next to the table on time :) all the meals were served in a perfect way!
Ramesh -The magician at the bar never let you down :with a coffee or a cocktail . Thanks for making every drink so unique with your creativity!
The chef who made us tasted a global cuisines in a row ! Amazing !
Jennifer: the first staff I met at the airport with the warmest welcome
The scubaspa team is truly operating this liveaboard as a floating resort with their rich industrial experience. If you or your family is not here for diving , I can assure you that they will also have a good time with the SPA treatment and other activities.
Ok..everything is perfect..maybe the only thing we nagged a bit is about the wifi …it’s not stable and data running out too fast ( or plz give everyone more free data ). I’ve heard people recharged it for like 3 times . Or maybe pre purchase a data card before you on board if you can’t stay without internet
wish you have your memorable moment with them <3

Of the two boats, which is newer and which do guests recommend?

They are the same, but one has just been renovated. I think it is the Yin.

How deep/challenging are the dives? Are there guides available to navigate with you?
Written March 16, 2023
Hi Blueskies. All dives have a maximum depth of 30 metres/100 ft. If you take the Deep South routes the currents can be very strong but the central Maldives are generally suitable for all PADI advanced open water as long as you are dive fit. Yes, there are guides who do a fantastic job. Hope this helps.
