Sungei Wang Plaza which literally means 'River of Gold' is located in the premier district of Kuala Lumpur's Golden Triangle, Bukit Bintang and is one of Malaysia's pioneer and top ten shopping malls centrally located at the bustling Jalan Sultan Ismail which house more than 600 tenants and offers a wide array of local and international merchandise, food and beverage outlets at affordable rates.

    Cheap!
    Out of all the malls in KL this was my favourite place. This mall had items dirt cheap. Recommend to look a around before buying as alot of the shops had repeat items for different prices. There is a guy near the nandos entrance of the mall that sells custom Keyrings he definitely deserves 5 stars. You choose a keyring or any of his leather items and he stamps a name you choose on it with gold, silver or a black stamp. The top floor has Anime shops with really cheap items.

    Cheap and Complete
    This plaza is recommended for travelers who have a small budget and are looking for middle to lower class items. many types of souvenirs that can be found in this square. besides that, in this plaza there is also a Giant supermarket.

    This poor place has been easily overshadowed by all the other new malls springing up in Bukit Bintang. Pavilion, for instance, is the obvious choice to be, and not Sungei Wang. The only reason I came here was because it has Giant Supermarket, and yet it was such a SMALL, disappointing supermarket. This has got to be the smallest Giant Supermarket I have been to. tsk tsk. Not coming back to Sungei Wang ever again.

    First mall
    First mall we visited on our first day in KL in our trip. Deserted. Quiet. No crowd. We drank bubble tea n ate the cheesecakes from two shops in level 1. disappointed. I bought one pair of hush puppies shoes n slippers. I also bought a hand made comb with my name engraved on it. We didn't even know that Bukit bintang plaza which were linked to it had been closed many years ago..... 😂 This shows how long we had last visited here.

    Well worth checking out
    Good selection of shops at reasonable prices. Been there many times but shop selection reducing, many closed probably because of covid lockdown and getting back up to speed. Well worth checking out though - bartering accepted practice here.

    A Legendary Mall in the Middle of KL Golden Triangle
    One of the legendary mall that still exists in KL golden triangle. The mall is under major upgrading works and to be completed in mid of 2021. Have plenty of good and cheap optical shop in Kuala Lumpur. You can make a good quality spectacle with half an hour. Most of the optical shop located at Lower Ground & Ground floor. Looking forward to revisiting again with Sungei Wang's new facelift soon.

    I like this plaza more than the others in Bukit Bintang
    Sungei Wang Plaza is one of many shopping centres in the shopping and entertainment district of Bukit Bintang. From the exterior, it looks like a tired old building in need of refurbishment. The interior looks much nicer though. There’s a decent food court here, so I could shop and eat without having to leave the shopping centre. The range of shops is pretty much the same as the other shopping centres around this area. That is, a mix of standard high street brands and local one man band type shops aimed at locals. I like this plaza more than the others in Bukit Bintang

    the mall has so many things that i wanted to shop. its easy and the location is strategic. loving the vibes of the mall! too many affordable optical shops and fashion shops. definitely a must go mall every month!

    Very old style shopping centers with repetitive goods for sale. We went in, looked at some shoes, walked one round and came out. No crowd. Interior design is plain. Shops are repetitive. Would not recommend to come here.

    Sungai Wang Plaza is located in the heart of the touristic area Bukit Pintang. 10 minutes walk to KLCC. Nice mall, many shops, restaurants, cafes, souvenirs and others. Easy to spend 2-3 hours.

A Legendary Mall in the Middle of KL Golden Triangle

One of the legendary mall that still exists in KL golden triangle. The mall is under major upgrading works and to be completed in mid of 2021. Have plenty of good and cheap optical shop in Kuala Lumpur. You can make a good quality spectacle with half an hour. Most of the optical shop located at Lower Ground & Ground floor. Looking forward to revisiting again with Sungei Wang's new facelift soon.

I like this plaza more than the others in Bukit Bintang

Sungei Wang Plaza is one of many shopping centres in the shopping and entertainment district of Bukit Bintang. From the exterior, it looks like a tired old building in need of refurbishment. The interior looks much nicer though. There’s a decent food court here, so I could shop and eat without having to leave the shopping centre. The range of shops is pretty much the same as the other shopping centres around this area. That is, a mix of standard high street brands and local one man band type shops aimed at locals. Very old style shopping centers with repetitive goods for sale. We went in, looked at some shoes, walked one round and came out. No crowd. Interior design is plain. Shops are repetitive. Would not recommend to come here.

Page tailor shop sungei wang plaza KL
I'm onto my third suit from this tailor in the last two years, and personally I think the quality and value are second to none. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this tailors to anyone. They are on level 1, and even if you don't have enough time, they will post your suit to you anywhere in the world, if you're really lucky, you get a beer while being measured up. Top class service.

Teenage Shoppers Paradise
We visited KL for 3 days recently and stayed at the federal Hotel, on Bukit Bintang. My 13 year old daugther, on her first trip overseas was a bit apprehensive of KL as it is less westernised and a bit 'dirtier' than Singapore, where we had spent the previous few days. Once she discovered Sungei Wang Plaza, her fears were quicly forgotton and she was in shoppers paradise. It's an older quirkier mall than some of the more modern ones like Starthill, Paramount, etc, but these others with the brand name stores are similar to what we can find everywhere in Australia. Sungei Wang is an ecclectic misx of small sops, where we bought Tailor made business clothing for me (at Page tailors), DVDs, Nintendo DS Games, SD cards, shoes for my daughters, other clothing, souveniers. Yes, get a map from the info desk, as it's very confusing. We seemed to live for hours in the one shopping centre. We ate at a little chinese restaurant (Paramount) on the 2nd floor where we were recommened by one of the shops where we bought stuff. A small chinese restaurants, serving mainly locals, but the food was absoluteley great and extremely cheap.

Good tailors, recommended by locals
This shopping centre is a maze of stalls and colour – and is recommended by the locals. We had some shirts and trousers made at Page Tailors on Level 1 – and were very pleased with the quality. If you have the patience to hunt around, you can find some reasonably priced souvenirs and accessories. Make sure you pick up a map from the concierge desk as the layout is a bit confusing.
