- mazlan992Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia2 contributions10/10 would recommend, a great experience overallIt was a great trip, the train was very comfortable with ample room for luggage storage. The Air-conditioning of the train was great, with fast a Wi-Fi connection. The staff was very helpful and kind. And the fastest transportation option to reach KL city center, passing through beautiful countryside nature.Thank you for your review! We are glad that you have a great experience. We look forward to seeing you again soon.Written March 17, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2024Traveled soloWritten March 13, 2024

- Matthew JWarrington, United Kingdom400 contributionsQuick and Efficient! We used KLIA Expres to travel between Kuala Lumpur International Airport and KL Sentral. I found this to be a really efficient train service. The trains to and from the airport are pretty frequent and there is a departure board on each platform, so you know how long to wait for your next train. We found all the KLIA Ekspres staff located at the stations to be very friendly and helpful when helping us navigate the train service. The trains themselves are perfectly comfortable and the service between the airport and KL Sentral is only 30 minutes (if you are able to catch a direct train), which I think is excellent. KL Sentral is connected to lots of other train lines so if you are visiting for the first time, this will probably be a useful interchange station for you to get to from the airport. Overall, this is probably the most efficient way to get between the airport and the centre of Kuala Lumpur. I would highly recommend using this train service!Thank you for your review! We arrived at the airport fairly late on and knew that the KLIA Ekspres didn't run all night so we were in a hurry to make one of the last trains. As such, we didn't compare rates of other transport as trains naturally seem to be cheaper globally than taxis/Ubers/Grabs. Unfortunately, this is not the case in Kuala Lumpur, the train tickets one way cost us 55MYR each (110MYR in total) and yet a Grab is price fixed at 60MYR (not including toll fees), and that delivers you directly to your hotel door! The service itself was good; very fast, on time, spacious, and had clear English notifications. If the price was cheaper then I think it would be a fantastic method of transport, but overall I would suggest getting a Grab from the airport to the city centre instead.

We’ve used this train both ways...to the city and to the airport. The schedule is very accurate and train promptly departs station at designated time. Ample space for luggage.

Quicker, environmentally friendlier, more comfortable, you name it.
If you're going to or from the airport this is the mode of transport to take. They leave every 15 or 20 minutes depending on the time of day.
Cheaper than a taxi and faster as well, comfortable seats and heaps of room for my bags.

KLIA Ekpres is one the government's best initiative! It is so convenient to get to the city from the airport in this.
I would recommend you get a return trip ticket, if you need to use it once more when you get back to the airport (KLIA), so that you can save RM5. The return ticket date is flexible.
If you take Malaysian Airlines, you can also check in your luggage at the KLIA ekspres station, and it transports your luggage to the airport for you, so you can get onto the train with less baggage hassle! Wonderful service, indeed!!!

With the Elite linking KLIA to the capital and all its suburbs now essentially a parking lot, the KLIA Express is the best way to get into the city in under 30 minutes. Clean, comfortable and on time, it's also cost effective especially for business travellers. Look out for family deals as well.
Only minor downside is the arrival platform at KL Sentral is rather cramped, with just one escalator and one lift.
Otherwise it's the fastest way into the city, and from KL Sentral you're linked to the city train systems (LRT, MRT, Komuter and Monorel) and you can get into KL's Golden Triangle, PJ or even Klang on these systems. Of course, interstate trains (KTM) are also in KL Sentral.

fast, efficient and a return trip using the KL Travel Card also includes unlimited 2 day travel on the metro/monorail network... but not on trains. 2 days start from first use so your trip from KLIA into KL. Clean and reasonably fast but only every 20 minutes so you could end up waiting for 19 mins like I did on the way back.

We went on a Sunday morning and found it very easy to get on the train within 15 minutes of getting to KL Sentral. We had two different staff members point us in the right direction. The train is comfortable and fast. There are baggage compartments for large suitcases. We added enough money to the same commuter card that we used all week in KL to get us to the airport. I am glad we used the KLIA express instead of the bus options.

Klia express is a fast and efficient way of getting to the centre of KL. If you are outside of peak rush hour and there is more than one travelling it is much cheaper to go by taxi. Download the grab app as grab fix the fare cost which is cheaper than two travelling by train. Bizarre but true.

We caught the KLIA Ekspres from the airport to KL Sentral Railway Station (the main KL station). It was easy to put all our luggage aboard and sit back and relax after a 8-hour plane flight. Once at KL Sentral we were lucky enough that our Hotel (The Majestic) had a free shuttle bus service, running every 30 minutes, to and from the Hotel premises. There were a number of hotels providing a similar service.

1. LRT Pasar Seni (towards Putra Heights) to KL Sentral.
2. Grab (private car-taxi app).
3. Bus from the Bus Terminal (besides Texas Chicken). Just ask any bus driver because it is frequent to go to KL Sentral.

Thanks for the reply. How to book Grab from KLIA. I Will be staying at Berjaya Times Square.
Written December 8, 2018
I'll also advise you to take KLIA express to KL Sentral. From there you can either Grab or take Monorel that has a station right in front of Berjaya Times Sq.
If you insist to Grab from KLIA, it has a stand at one of the exit door. Ask any security person you see at the airport.

Enquiries on how to use the KLIA express train to KL city. Anyone had bought this for 2-way transfer? 3 pax. Should I bought it individually or 3 pax together? Is it cheaper to buy online or on the spot from airport? Kindly advise
Written December 7, 2018
Hi! It's better and convenient to buy from airport two-way tickets to KL. I used cash to purchase the tickets and for me travelling in KL express to KL city in the train was a great experience. Anyday I will junk grab or cab over this.

Hi plz guide me do we get train from kl bikit bintang to penang and from which terminal i should travel to penang terminal
Written July 8, 2018
Hi, if you would like to take train from KL to Penang, you can take monorail from Bukit Bintang to KL Sentral. KL Sentral monorail station is located in Nu Sentral Mall, but there is a connection to KL Sentral train station. After getting off at KL Sentral monorail station, please head to the KTM train station. The train ticket you can either purchase online at BusOnlineTicket or you can purchase it on the spot.
