Central Market began life as a wet market in 1888, built by Yap Ah Loy, the city’s Chinese Kapitan. It served as a prominent landmark in colonial and modern-day Kuala Lumpur. When the wet market was relocated in the 1980s, the Malaysian Heritage Society successfully petitioned against the demolition of the building. Now, Central Market Kuala Lumpur is an iconic attraction and a delightful destination for tourists, shoppers and art lovers.

Went here late one afternoon. Quite a lot of shops but all selling same kind of things. Nice to stroll round as it has air conditioning. Some nice places to have a drink inside as well.

If you just visiting Malaysia and are staying only in Kuala Lumpur this is the best souvenir place to get for your friends and family back home, but if travelling around Malaysia the street vendor there can offer a cheaper exotic souvenir like batik, kain pelekat or key chain depending if your location is a hotspot or not

You should definitely visit this place if you are going to KL. There are lot of small shops selling lot of things including souvenirs, traditional stuff, clothes etc. You can also bargain to some extent if you are buying more than 1 item. I am sure people will definitely find something to buy for themselves or there homes and especially... More

Great place to get your souvenirs in one area of air conditioned space. The sellers are helpful but not aggressive. You can bargain. We were able to check a lot off our list with an hour in this one stop. It is not a smelly market, but it is very clean.

This is a very large marketplace, fix prices appear to be the norm. However there can be some bargaining if you want. We were able to get all of our T-shirts souvenirs and much more in one morning. Can get there by either the metro or buy a metered Taxi for not very expensive. Yes they sell souvenirs and a... More

One of the main market areas in Chinatown with a good selection of nice items to look at and buy along with places to eat and drink. Set over two floors with a medieval European suit of armour guarding the top of one of the sets of stairs. Don’t forget to haggle. Bit of a market/souk vibe. Friendly staff. This... More

This place has different little sections selling different types of touristy things. The price is much cheaper if you want to get something for your friends and family overseas. The thing is that we didn't buy much as most things are not very good quality and eventhough there are loads on offer but they all looked pretty similar after you... More
