Went towards the market thinking it was a market that sold random things, like clothing, crafts and snacks. Instead found a wet market. Wasn't prepared for the whole experience. Definitely out error for not realising what the market is.

The area is full of markets so if that is your thing, by all means go and enjoy it. However, I would say Brickfields is still a more interesting vibrant market, so I would recommend Brickfields and visit Chow Kit only if you have extra time!

Simply one of the very best markets in Asia. The colours; the smells; the sounds it's amazing. The produce looks so fresh, it's just so vibrant and busy. Take the monrail to Chow Kit and walk 100m and you'll find the entrance to the market. It has 2 sections the fruit and veg and the wet market. You'll see lots of cycle tours visiting the market - it's very popular.

Been to lots of markets like this but the Chow Kit is very user friendly and won't upset your stomach. The veges and fruit are top class condition and the stall holders are very friendly....especially if you greet them with Selamat Pagi. The goods side of the market is small and packed, tall people be warned. I had a few Malay meals here and they were enjoyable and cheap. Also try and find the boiled peanut stall.....very addictive. If you're in the area this is a must see.

Street market with lots of selection of vegetables, some fruit, better prices and fresher than grocery stores. Fish is fresh and good, chicken also looks fresh and doesn't smell. We have not tried the beef hanging on hooks or sitting on tables with flies around it. Pretty clean, convenient but hard to find parking in the area.

We wandered and bought a few things very cheaply and stopped a few times for a nibble of something - satay was the best although everything we ate was tasty and well prepared.

This market has everything from food to what ever you want. Imagine visiting this place in December. I was told to be careful of my personal belongings. The lanes were very narrow and I was told that the local sells items in here. There were all types selling in this market. The place smell of fish and various other foods. I was more interested in local produce like handicraft but was disappointed. The place was dirty and smelly . I just bought a handbag made of coconut shells and two necklaces also made by coconut shell. This was me supporting the local people of Malaysia. One will find even children in this place.

caught LRT to Chow Kit markets. Be carefaul as there is a new market (very dark and clostophobic) and the old markets which is a small walk from these ones... The market has blue roofing and can be recognised by the smell of free meat, fish and other produce. I wasnt feeling well so I kept my distance however my partner had no problems walking around and talking to the locals.
