This four-sided clock is on Medan Pasar Square. It was made by English colonists in 1937 in art deco style. It attracts the eye with its very rigid and massive side. Not the most interesting work I could visit at KL.

Located in Medan Pasar public square is this clock tower. The clock tower was built in 1937 when Malaysia was still part of the British Empire and erected to commemorate the coronation of King George IV. The design looks almost Art Deco with its soaring lines of the tower and crisp clean lines of sun rays on the wooden panelling. The clock tower is okay, it’s in Medan Square, which is another landmark of the city, so take a look if you’re there.

The Mayor of Kuala Lumpur was making an opening speech for World Urban Forum housing project in front of the clock tower when I came to visit it. There were two model houses among the makeshift greenery demonstrating how open car park spaces and abandonded commercial buildings could be fitted with them to provide affordable housing in downtown KL. The numbers are stunning, in the core area of 213 hectares are 54.000 workplaces but only 4800 residents, even the city council seems to understand that they can't build highrises everywhere. This area near Chinatown has been deteoriorating for years, now there is new hope seen also at the riverfront.

The clock tower is not very large, nor is it particularly attractive. What is attractive, however, are the numerous fresh food hawker stalls set up in the square around meal times cooking and selling a whole host of local delicacies. You simply watch your food being cooked to order. Ridiculously cheap for pretty good food.

I was walking by here as it's next to my hotel. Nothing much to see but it's ok to walk around here and take a photo and relax.

Old Market Square Clock Tower is situated in the centre of town near the Central Market. It was built in the 1930s and is in the Art Deco style with characteristic sun-ray decoration around its base.

Unimpressed clock tower erected in 1937, Art Deco style but kinda drab...not far from Kasteri walkway and Central Market. I didn't even take a photo!

The old clock tower stands in the centre of Market Square or Medan Pasar, now a pedestrian walkway. This clock tower was designed by Arthur Oakley Coltman and erected in 1937 in commemoration of the coronation of King George IV. The original memorial plaque has however been removed.
