About
We are a small winery, family owned and operated. We have a fabulous view that over looks the Uwharrie Mountain range and also Lake Tillery. Come share our view!

If you enjoy good wine and scenic views then Stony Mountain Vineyards should be on your list of must see vineyards! I have been several times but my visit in early November was especially memorable. The colors of Autumn were at their peak which made the view of the Uwharrie mountains and Lake Tillery exceptionally beautiful. However, that’s not the biggest reason you should visit; it’s just an added bonus.
I am a fan of Cab Savs, and at Stony Mountain Vineyards they make an excellent Cabernet Sauvignon. I have tried dozens of other cabs but SMV is my favorite. I’m sure whatever your wine of choice is, you will find that they have delicious wines across the board!

My girlfriend and visited the winery yesterday, Sunday 11/29/2020.Drove just over a couple of hours to get there, came in and were warmly greeted by Sheena, (who did a wonderful job as our hostess), had a couple glasses of wine out on the deck, met some new friends, and bought a case of wine to take home, to include 6 bottles of my all time favorite Blackberry wine. I really needed this trip to recharge. It was very relaxing and the views from the back deck are beautiful. This was my 10th visit to Stony Mountain and I have thoroughly enjoyed each trip. Besides, I have to come replenish my supply every so often. I will be sure to return when my stock runs low.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Beautiful views. Great variety of sampling from sweet fruit to a decent merlot. Relaxing and worth 45 minute drive from Charlotte. Staff is friendly and knowledgable. Take a small pank of snacks. You will have a great time.

We visited this place today and were very impressed. The facility sits on top of Stone Mountain, and the roads are somewhat full of treacherous potholes so be wary. They run tours on a regular basis and a tasting is very reasonably priced. The break it down to "SWEET" (mostly muscadine and fruit wines) or "DRY" (the traditional European wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, etc. We prefer the dry so that's all I can attest to. We had brought our lunch so after the tasting we opted for a bottle of very good Pinot Grigio ($12) and purchased a cheese plate ($5) to supplement what we had brought. They have an enclosed patio area that is heated and an open air deck with table and umbrellas in the warmer area. They also have large round tables inside that are there for your enjoyment. We thoroughly enjoyed our wine and food before leaving to return home an hour away. We loved the setting, the wine, the view - the makings of a perfect afternoon.

Stony Mountain Vineyards is the very best choice I made for my wedding, besides my groom, lol. We had both the ceremony and reception here and it was spectacular. The scenery, atmosphere, and overall experience was absolutely amazing. I could not have asked for a better place to have my wedding. Thank you Laura for your imput and knowledge of how weddings should run in the modern era. It was greatly appreciated. Their wine list is great for beginner drinkers as well as the more experienced! Thank you so much Stony Mountain Vineyards!!!!

Great winery with friendly atmosphere and great wines. Tour of the location and a small lesson in how their wine are made. The view from the balcony is simply breath taking, relaxing to sit and sip your wine. A combination of old and new buildings. A little out of the way but worth the time to see the area from the view you can get. Overall great. The only thing is that the wine tasting area could be more organize and a explanation of the wines you are tasting instead of just saying read the menu.

We visited them at the NC Muscadine Festival last fall and stopped in today! Very glad we did. Had a nice tasting and brought home a few more bottles for our collection! Was a beautiful location and bet it is really beautiful when the vines are all filled out!

My husband and I have started visiting the many vineyards in North Carolina these past few years. We are surprised there are so many in this state. All the more fun for us!
We recently went to Stony Mountain. We had no info beforehand. The drive was beautiful because we were truly in the country which I love. We decided that he would taste the dry and I would try the sweets. We both liked most of our choices and each had 1 that we didn't care for. I'm not saying any of them were bad. They were all excellent.
The building is rustic with awesome views. The only thing we didn't understand was they buy their grapes from California. We thought that is what makes a winery. You grow your own grapes. I guess we are amateurs. The wines, as I have stated, are flavorful and crisp. I won't say, however, that it was worth the hour plus drive. There is no restaurant only snacks. Although we enjoyed our day out, we will not make a point of driving there again.

We had a Groupon for the winery. It was worth the small amount you pay. The winery is small but has a very nice view of the mountains. You get a tour, tastings (up to 8) and wine glasses and a bottle of wine for the price of the Groupon. We were on time but our guide was not so we received 2 frosties for free while we waited. Our tour guide spent more time talking about his dad than the process but we didn't mind. He is a friendly guy. I would go again!
