We visited Hypocenter park on our way back from Saint May’s Cathedral on top of the hill. The monuments were inspiring and the park was peaceful and tranquil. Our next stop was the museum which was rally close to the park.

This peaceful spot was the hypocenter of the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki in 1945. Explore the surrounding park and reflect on what happened here.

We visited the park at the Hypocentre of the atomic bomb - ground zero. There are several monuments and memorials within the park, and a large circular area marking the exact hypocentre. There are garlands of 1000 cranes hanging here, as they are at all...More

Having only read about the effects of the bomb on Nagasaki, it felt so important to see the remains of a few buildings still standing at the hypocenter and imagine the instantaneous devastation plus the suffering and deaths days, weeks and decades later. Make time...More

This is the ground zero location where the bomb was dropped over Nagasaki which ended the Second World War. It is free to enter, and is located next to the Atomic Bomb museum.

To stand at the hypo center of this terrible event is incredible. The monument is a column that marks the spot, with the number of people who perished unscripted on the side.

Not a park for playing in, but a park for praying in. Quiet park but there were happy little kids riding bikes through it, but you can't help that feel these are ephemeral visions that might fade from reality. What is real and what isn't...More

It isn't possible to grasp what happened. But to Stand at the hypocenter and contemplate it is a challenge one should try.

I'm not sure they can really say any particular spot was ground zero. Remember the saying, "it's only close enough with a-bombs"? Our guide kept saying "this is where the bomb hit" and I kept saying no it was detonated about 1,500 up, not by...More

As you would expect, eerie feeling being just under the spot that the plutonium-filled FAT BOY detonated .. .. On the way to the BOMB MUSEUM .. ..

I arrived by ferry from Kumamoto. Nagasaki is about a 3-hour drive from the ferry terminal.
