These people helped me get organized so I was able to see both the Christian and Bomb sites; due to limited time I didn't get it all, but did see more than if I had organized myself.

We visited tourist information centers in various cities during a recent 2-week trip throughout Japan and found this one In the Nagasaki train station to have much less space than others. It is essentially a kiosk squeezed into a corner of a room that also includes a Seattle’s Best Coffee counter and a train waiting area with myriad chairs. The noise level proved to be fairly high when we visited on three occasions.

A stop here, however, yields a city map in English, answers to questions and the opportunity to buy a 1-day tram pass for 5 ¥, unavailable on the trams themselves. But I found an uneven quality in customer service here. On our first stop, when we arrived in Nagasaki, the rep was brusque and incorrectly anticipated questions, giving verbal information neither sought nor needed. When I asked questions about the tram pass, she immediately took one out to stamp for that day, when I had inquired about the next day. Throughout our conversation, she remained curt and we felt most unwelcome. On two subsequent visits, however, different reps were very pleasant, listened carefully to us and thoughtfully answered questions. Everyone with whom we interacted spoke good English.

I recommend a stop here before sightseeing in the city. But be prepared for the possibility of an unexpected attitude from one of the reps.

It was a fairly standard Tourist Information Center just outside the gates to the train station and provided a good English map of Nagasaki, essential in getting around town.

Before you start your trip you should definitely visit the Tourist information center. Get a map of the city from here and some information about events, and you are good to go. The staff there is able to talk in English so you can ask whatever you want.

The tourist information is at the barriers to the railway station and is located inside a coffee shop / waiting room. There are some brochures and a good map in English here, plus they sell one day tram passes for 500 yen (versus 130 a trip).

This isn’t a huge Information centre here but these were not too common throughout our visit to Japan and there were few leaflets in English for the tourists either - they could generally do so much better for the tourists to their cities and country

The staff tried with their English when we were there

Well placed at the railway station inside the ‘Seattle coffeee shop’ & waiting room for the trains
Very helpful lady’s but with limited leaflets in English, you also buy the tram passes in here (you can not buy them on a tram) but they do supply you with a very good (if very big ) town map with all the attractions on & how to get to them

Small but efficiently operated tourist information center with very helpful and English speaking staff. I always bought my daily “One-Day Pass” for the Nagasaki streetcar over there. One cannot buy these passes on the streetcars themselves so the Tourist Information Center in JR Station is a great option.
I understood that if you are not staying in the vicinity of the JR Station you can buy the “One-Day Pass” in the bigger hotels in town as well.
