I was very lucky to have Fumiko all to myself on this evening tour of Kansai. She arrived at the meeting point early and quickly identified herself to me and we sat chatting waiting for the other guests who didnt show up. So we enjoyed the evening strolling through the Kuromon marketplace meeting local cooks and tasting traditional foods that really warmed me up on a cold night. Fumiko was like most Japanese, exceptionally polite and eager to introduce me to the sights and sounds ad the old world charm of the back streets and alleys of Osaka. She carefully explained how each snack was cooked and made sure that she chose items that I wanted to try. We shopped for 'fake food' samples and even got some spontaneous purchases that I spotted while we walked and talked. Fumiko showed me hidden little secrets in each location that I would not have found myself and gave me a lot of local knowledge that helped me to explore during the rest of my stay. It was nice to sit and chat about our lives and travels and I have made a lovely new friend who I hope will visit with me when she comes to Australia one day. Fumiko is a wonderful travel guide and a credit to her company. She really made my short visit to Osaka an enjoyable and interesting time.

Anthony Bordain said it best. When you travel- ask people "What do you like to eat, where do you like to go". With that advice in mind, we signed up for Yuki's food and drink tour of Osaka. I won't go into great detail, but Yuki taught us way more than we expected. From learning how to pick out a good sake, to trying new dishes, and information about Osaka's history. We went to eat at one place and japanese potato salad was served. I was floored by how good it tasted and I asked Yuki- How do I say Potato Salad in Japanese? He annunciated very slowly Poe-Tae-Toe Salad. HAHAHAHA!! Thanks Yuki for letting us into your world for an evening.

We did the night tour in Osaka with Yuki three days ago and still cannot stop talking about how good it was. I’m not usually one to book a tour of a city as I’m very much the budget traveller. But this tour is so worth it. I only wish that we had done it at the very beginning of our time in Osaka as it gave us such great insight that would be great to know when exploring on your own. My boyfriend is a chef and the tour was a birthday gift to him. When I contacted yuki he offered to make some changes to his usual routine in order to accomodate my boyfriends interest in food. All the food we tried was delicious and even though my boyfriend and I are avid travellers that have a keen interest in food we learned things about both Osaka and food culture. Would definitely recommend yuki as a tour guide as he has amazing English and had spent time overseas so really knows the things to point out. If we’re in Osaka again we’ll definitely take another inside Osaka tour, my boyfriend said after the trip “I wish we could take Yuki all around Japan with us”, he really is that good!!!!

Yuki’s tour is hands down fantastic. As described, he will take really small groups off the beaten track. I do not want to spoiler, so just a short description: We strolled through some backalleys, went to the most charming Izakaya, had the best food and drinks and learned so much about Japan. It was simply great! Do yourself a favour and book this tour! It will be one of your highlights in Japan! We certainly couldn’t have done that on our own. Thank you very much!

It is so easy just to wander around the tourist attractions in any city without seeing and feeling the real culture of a place. What a fabulous evening with Yuki (and one other couple) getting a feel for the real Osaka and learning so much more. Yuki emailed to confirm the exact meeting time and place, was there as arranged and took us on a very interesting evening walk through the unseen Osaka. Just as advertised, Yuki takes (small group only) to places that you would not encounter on your own and encourages you to try food and drink that you may not otherwise do so. Along the route he explains the history and culture and is very knowledgeable when answering any questions - a true local. We drank sake at a locals standing bar and Yuki explained how to understand the quality of sake from the bottle. If you are happy to try things, go ahead and book this food and drink tour, you won’t regret it. An excellent guide.
