We spend a few days in Osaka and I really have to say that the cooking class at Eat Osaka was the best thing we did in Osaka! Everything was just perfect. Our chef was so funny. She make jokes and made everyone comfortable during the session. She also told us a lot about the japanese culture and much more!
Highly recommended for those who want to do something different in Osaka!

Everything was so perfect : the place, our host, the lesson... My friends and I had a very good time there. And thanks to the explanations, we are now able to cook some very good dishes at home.

If you have ~2-3 hours to spare and want to learn how to cook authentic Japanese food, participate in “Eat Osaka” cooking class. For about ~$60 USD, you could select three options (home cooking, street food, and izakaya) in which the instructor will teach. The cooking class takes place in a converted living room of a house. There’s one big table prepped with ingredients and tools. To be honest, you won’t learn how to cook after one lesson. However, it’s a special experience meeting new strangers from different countries sharing drinks and a meal together. The class provides one free drink and you’re welcomed to bring your own alcohol.

My wife and I went to Eat Osaka for the street food cooking class they offer - and we're so glad we did! We done the class on the 9th day of a 15 day trip... we were pretty exhausted from lots of walking and travelling, but this cooking class somehow managed to restore our energy! Yasuko was our host and she was absolutely amazing. She was extremely lovely, very funny, and made sure we all took our time and done things right - overall just very good at what she does and really made it even more enjoyable. We cooked three dishes over around 2 hours, and it was held in a small and traditional Japanese kitchen which was a brilliant vibe. It only takes 6 people at a time which was great as it meant you could follow easily and ask questions when you needed to. I won't go into what we made and how too much as part of the fun is getting to discover that for yourself. I couldn't recommend Eat Osaka or Yasuko more, it was all brilliant. A small thing to note, we got lost looking for an Eat Osaka building, but there isn't one. We reread our booking confirmation and noticed it said to meet at Tower Knives, and right enough when we went there we found Yasuko waiting. We also went hungry so that we could enjoy our food as you do make quite a lot. In our opinion it's worth every penny and we left with absolutely no complaints!

I highly recommend doing a cooking class with Eat Osaka. From booking to the actual day they were nothing but friendly and helpful.
The class was only 4 people, nice and intimate. Aya was a fantastic teacher who explained everything in detail, answered our questions and had a laugh with us.
They offer different types of classes and if I had more time in Osaka I would have booked for the other classes too (I did the Street Food class). I can't wait to make my own Okonomiyaki at home. You are given the recipes to take home so you don't need to stress about remembering all the steps for the various food you make :-)

Communication was easy via the booing system and we received the instructions via mail, where and when to meet.
We booked the streetfood class and prepared udon noodles with a soup, chopstick okonomiyaki and yakitori including a sauce.
It was very entertaining with total 6 participants. Additionally our host made some pictures and send us the downloadlink.
Also we received the recipes for all dishes. Some included basic Japanese convenience products, e.g. dashi and miso, but because of that we also decided later to take home both from a Japanese supermarket.
Everything was explained in proper English and easy to follow.
Money well spent and would go again.
Additionally, if anyone is interested in buying a knife at Osaka Tower knives, which also serves as a meeting point, you will get a small discount and your name is engraved for free.

Fun experience cooking the street food course! The teacher had us laughing the whole time and the food was good. Probably didn't hurt that we were drinking from an enormous bottle of sake (that we brought) the whole time ;)

Fun using these ultra sharp Japanese knives as well! (he says, right after mentioning all the drinking)

We did the Street Food class and were lucky to have a small group of only three. Our teacher was great and told us about the ingredients we were using along the way. The class was not too hard but the three dishes we made were delicious Overall a really fun morning.
