Amazing knives at fair prices! Super knowledgeable team there to help answer any questions but more Importantly they ask you a lot of questions to make sure you find the right knife. I tried at least 10 knives before finding the one and during each round of testing they asked me what I liked and didn’t so they could pick a better knife for me to try. 3 months later I use this knife at every possible moment and absolutely love it. Regret not getting another one!
With knives like a lot of things I have a lot of (tattoos and bikes) what you pay for is what you get. Spend the money to get a knife you will always use for decades

My partner came here to get himself a knife for our house and it was really interesting to see what they make, because you can see them making the knives in the workshop. They tell you about the knives and what they're made of, and even tell you how to care for them.

Prior to my trip to Osaka, I knew I wanted to buy a Japanese knife. The tour director had contacted me if there was anything I was looking for on the free day in Osaka and I mentioned going knife shopping. She reached out to several knife shops and gave me a list of three options, but only Tower Knives had asked additional questions regarding what I was looking for and there was several emails with them, this put them at the top of the list!
When I arrived, they asked what the intended purpose was, and proceeded to talk about the different types of knives, showed me the different cases, and which would probably be best for what I wanted. I browsed the cases without interruption, except when I had questions, and was interested in three knives; two with Japanese styled handles and the third with a western style handle. She allowed me to try them on carrots and apples. All of them sliced transparent thin carrots, but I felt I needed to go with one of the traditional Japanese handle knives and even bought a paring knife. The craftsman who made the knives was onsite, so he came out to meet me and take a picture. Another person then came out to show me how to properly care for and sharpen the knives. My one regret is that I didn't have my name engraved on the knives! I absolutely love the knives for their intended purpose.

We visited this knife shop after a cycling food sampling tour, so cooking was on our minds! It was a fantastic experience visiting this shop. We only speak english, and everyone was fluent in english, some can also speak french, and I'm sure other languages would be covered too. Their depth of knowledge about knives was extraordinary. They showed us how different knives were made, which really helped us appreciate more fully the qualities of different knives. They taught us how to cut properly and sharpen knives. They also offer follow up support if needed (in person or by email). Overall, they probably spent on hour with us teaching, demonstrating and helping us chose a new knife - and this was in a busy store!
I was also very touched by their kindness. I left my partner at the store sorting out some final details and went off to rescue universal studio tickets I had ordered online from a vending machine at another store. They noticed I had taken a long time, so they sent a staff member to the Lawsons' store to help me out. He rescued me from a helpful but confused Lawsons' employee, rang USJ to sort it out, even lent me some money because I couldn't pay by credit card (paid back of course)! I mention this, not just because I am very grateful, but I think it speaks to the calibre of the people there, very generous and kind hearted!
Thanks again for a great experience.

Friendly and totally interesting. We just happened to come across this amazing place, and decided to walk in. They make knives and were very friendly, explaining how they are made. We tried one of the knives, which cut through a carrot like butter. You can even get them shipped back to your home, so you don't have to worry about customs.

We had stayed in the area previously and didn’t know tower knives was here, everyone was so easy to deal with.
Grab a knife stay in the area, go to spaworld and eat some great food north of the tower.
So happy I purchased a left handed all purpose knife from here, it’s so sharp and so light makes me remember my time there every time I use it.
Price points for every budget.

I visited four knife shops on my tour of Japan, purchasing a gyuto, sashimi and santoku knife on the way. They were all fascinating in their own way, but I had the most complete and informative experience at Tower Knives.
Bjorn the Canadian-Danish owner was present and as it was a relatively quiet time, was able to give me a good half hour of personal attention, all of which was useful. For a start he speaks perfect English (a big advantage for me in Japan) in a clipped, precise accent. He took the time to explain the manufacturing process, assess my needs (left handed, general purpose), assess my knife technique on a carrot and a tomato (admittedly poor), explain how I could improve my technique (less pressure, a more level blade, longer strokes, letting the knife do the work). All was very useful. I was able to try out several types of knife, all ground for a left-hander and eventually settled on a mid-length stainless santoku manufactured in nearby Sakai (I already had the gyuto and carbon-steel sashimi in my luggage at this point). He then brought out 5 brand new versions of this knife for me to select from on the basis of how they felt in my hand. After I had selected the one that felt best, I accepted the offer to have my name engraved in Japanese on the high part of the heel. As this would take 15 minutes or so, Bjorn then gave me a tutorial on sharpening my knife on a whetstone, (2 coins to create a 14 degree angle on my strong left side and a single coin for a lesser angle on the opposite side of the blade), how to flatten my whetstone after prolonged use and finally how to clean and store my knife to its best advantage. He then gave me a tour of the higher end more esoteric pieces that were way beyond my budget and skills. Finally my engraved knife was carefully wrapped and boxed.
One tip: I had my passport with me by accident, which allowed me to get the 8% tax taken of the purchase price there and then. Any purchase over 10,000 Yen qualifies for this.
Bjorn is plainly passionate about knives and wants you to get the very best out of your own. I will feel guilty now every time I make a poor slice, allow my edge to dull or let a rust spot appear on the carbon-steel sashimi. A following customer demonstrated much better technique and was recommended to try longer blades. Watching him work, I suddenly understood why the blade on my existing Global sashimi knife is so long. I am confident that anyone, experienced or not, who wants to buy a good Japanese knife, or just wants advice on knives in general would do well to visit this excellent store.

Purchased a knife after doing the Eat Osaka cooking class. Great service and knowledge of knives. Multi-lingual staff work there. The man who made the knife I purchased was on site so I got to have a photo with him!

A huge collection of different artisanal knives made by japanese knife makers/designers. Prices vary from the hundreds to the thousands depending on material, type of knife and hand finished elements. The employees were all very helpful and there were several English speaking associates to assist with the process. Cutting carrots with their knives were like cutting into soft butter. Definitely worth the visit if you are in the area. They also offer tax refund so bring your passport!

I’m sure they will have steak knives as they have a full range. They mainly do cooks knives but they also pocket knives and all sorts of others, including nail cutters. Japan is famous for its blades. Price wise I’m not sure about as I only looked at Nakiri chief knives prices as that is all I wanted, sorry hope this helps.

Tower Knives Osaka can arrange shipping if you do not have checked luggage, but beware that Canadian customs will tax you if you ship your purchase instead of carrying it.
