It has become a landmark for finding "Smile Hotel Tennoji" which reopened on March 20, 2024. I also paid a visit. It was a cold day with the mid-winter cold returning.
The photo was taken after checking out the next day, the 21st. Several people were inside the precinct.

I walked into the quaint temple grounds while walking around the Tennoji Park grounds. Once on the temple grounds, it is peaceful and serene! Very nice place to visit.

My friend and I just went to the Shitennoji Temple; including flea market on the 25th of every month. Walking up the steps, my friend had never visited this shrine, but I yelled, "Frog!", which also surprised him. There was frog costume around the shrine, which you could take photos with. On a side path, you can find the frog stone, which looks like a sitting frog. It's bathed and kept wet.

The property itself was small, quiet and unassuming. I am unsure if it was due to the flea market, or the weekend, but they also had frog vendors. They had cute little frog toys, dolls, and charms. I ended up picking out a little hand-made frog statue with a lily pad which can sit in my garden now.

I definitely think the frog theme helped push this shrine into a notable visit, one I'd recommend to friends. On a normal day, it might be more quiet and peaceful, and just another shrine for many people, except those with a special place for frogs in their heart. (Or I can just mention Naruto, and you can think of the frogs.)

It is a very old shrine which was reportedly built by Shotokutaishi. As it is located on Tanimachisuji main avenue, it is very easy to find. If you walk from JR Tennoji station, it takes 10~15 minutes.

Beautiful and quiet place in the middle of the city. Easy to find.
They have a really cute peach amulet made from peach tree wood, selling at 1000yen.

Nice place to visit and allow us to experience something very different..
Just note to visit a toilet before there and walking upwards to the other Street would be the beautiful Shin-tennoji Temple.
Must visit...

This shrine is small but it is popular with locals. Located in the Tennoji area. Cherry blossom was very beautiful. Quiet and relaxing. A lot of greens on the grounds.

I visited here with my wife. The temple is located next to Isshinji, which is famous for the temple which has created the Buddha statues from the crushed bones of the dead sent to the temple.
Horikoshi temple was small but it was good to relax. This may be an option to visit when you come around this temple area.
