Watch out for age restrictions on concert tickets. StubHub did not disclose this. Out a lot of $$$. Teen and friend can't get in. Hard to navigate without speaking the language well. Too bad.

Walking into the Oaska Dome at field level as part of Team Australia Baseball is an experience beyond my dreams. This amazing structure, an architectural masterpiece has to be one of the greatest sports stadiums in the world.
Fill it with 40,000 plus crazy Japan Baseball fans and you have an atmosphere to match the size of the place. Merchandise stores packed with baseball fanatics furiously buying anything in sight.
Everything here is efficient and well organised. Moving around is easy as the signage is in both Japanese and English, the organisation of the food and services would put most organisations to shame. They really know how to run an event here.
Even if you are not into baseball, go see a game here and be blown away.

We were staying in Kobe but we took the train to Osaka and then the City Loop Line (using our JR passes) to Taisho station. You see the dome from the train and then it is well signposted from the station. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from this station across a bridge over the river. We walked up the stairs to a booking office outside and bought tickets for the general admission area in the Orix Buffaloes supporters area for 2400 yen each. You go through a bag search on the way in, I presume they are looking for bottles or glass. On entry there wasn't much English spoken but we found an Information counter and the young girl there was able to direct us upstairs and we finished up in block 52. We had a great evening watching the game (which sadly we still don't understand) and the Buffaloes won!! The atmosphere is great, the fans do a lot of singing and clapping and waving of the towels that they give you on the way in. You are also given a balloon which you blow up later in the game and then everybody waves them around and then lets them go at the same time. Great fun!! There are young girls and the occasional young guy who are going round with kegs of cold beer on their backs and they serve you at your seat. 750yen for a large beer in a paper cup, Kirin or Asahi, full strength. Same price as buying it down at the outlets and its nice and cold so you might as well get it at your seat. They also come around with soft drinks. There is food available but it appears to be mostly the same sort of fried stuff we get at home at the footy.
Do go if there is a game on while you are in town. It's a great night out, a good cultural experience and even if you know nothing about baseball you will have a great time.

This was our second time on our trip taking in a baseball game in Japan. Checked the website and they had plenty of seats left so we took the subway and got tickets at the box office. Japanese baseball from a fan perspective is so much different than in the US. I love going to ballparks and just taking in the game but the crowds in Japan wave huge flags, blow horns, bang drums, chant and chant, bang sticks, well, you get the picture. Audience participation is huge! Sit on the home team side (1B side) and get some noodles and join in the fun! And you gotta love the cute girls in their colorful outfits and caps lugging around ice cold draft beer on their backs! And no one throws their trash under the seat! Take it with you when you leave and drop in a bag held by a game attendant. What a great experience!

The outside design is very unique with the wavy design, but on the inside, it’s like any normal dome!

Great atmosphere, even with two under-average teams playing.

If you are in Japan,m and you have the opportunity to go to a baseball game (even if you don’t like baseball), GO! It’s totally different than in the states (same gameplay, totally different environment)!

We enjoyed a game of baseball between the local team the Buffolowes and the eels for an entertaining night game. The stadium is easy to get to via metro with the station located next to the stadium. Safe and effecient the venue has merchandise, food and drink options similar pricing to any stadium. The stadium has a closed roof so very comfortable. Seating is ok but don’t be too big. Be mindful a game can run for up to 4 hours.

We went to see the buffaloes play on a Saturday night. We didn't buy tickets in advance, and there was no need with the stadium only around half full.

We paid 2,500 yen for tickets and got inside to find a sea of seats in our unreserved section reserved with towels (which you really don't need at a baseball match). They were literally clipped onto the seats. Some spectators had even brought their laundry pegs to really mark their territory. Obviously the occupants were nowhere to be seen. The cliched Germans and their sunbeds have nothing on this absentee mob.

Nearly the whole lower tier was pegged out (and never filled) so we made our way to the upper tier which thankfully had a lot more space.

Anyway, when we found some seats we were happy.

There is a good selection of western-style fast food and Japanese noodle pots. We had foot long hot dogs for 700 yen. Girls walk round the stadium bowl with beer on their backs, on sale for 750 yen a pint.

The baseball itself was actually pretty dull. But we had good fun enjoying the food and beer. And we were on the big screen. I waved and squealed.

All in all: a fun and enjoyable evening. Even if baseball is as boring as cricket.

This was so much fun - we had a 3 year old and 8 year old. They might not agree! The 3 year old was done after the first few innings (to be expected). The 8 year old loved the cheerleaders, the balloons on the 7th and 9th.
It was great fun. Having never been to a baseball game, I have nothing to compare it to. Can't say I usually have any attention for sport matches but this did. Loved it!

i really reccomend going to see a baseball game, its not too expensive (compared to the prices you'd pay in new york or something) especially for the seats we got which were very very close to the pitch and the tickets were pretty easy to buy (i was quite aprehensive about getting the tickets) all we did was get the subway to the game on the day, the dome is very easy to find if the game is on that day because you just follow the crowd of fans. then we just found the ticket office and got the tickets. most of the staff spoke a bit of english but you dont really need to speak to get the tickets. it was amazing to see that players and fans in action and a great way to spend the day
