This is crazy and crowded but vibrant and fascinating especially at night. Lots of bars and restaurants. Department stores. Just a lot to look at. A peak at Osaka life as well as tourists.

Dotonbori is a great neighbourhood to visit with great food and great shopping. It really comes alive at night, so that's the best time to visit. You have high end mingling with humble street food and the same goes for the shopping. There's something for...More

Crowded all the time. Gets worst at night. For food hunters, be prepared to queue up. Huge selection of food, shops, souvenirs. Heading back on a weekday. Heard that most shops are opened till 10:30 - 23:00.

Dotonbori at night is a must... you see a lot of people. The signs are all lit up, bars, clubs and places to grab some food plus the ferris wheel.

Less travelers miss to meet Glico Man sign when they come to Dotonburi where it is the area of nightlife and illuminated signboards along both sides of Dotonburi canal. There are many shops, restaurants, bars, food stalls and department stores as Don Quijote there. It...More

As you come out of the covered market street into that square/bridge area with all the billboards and lights and people - it feels great! But after maybe 10-15 minutes you realize that it is just one big crowded street with a lot of things...More

This should go without saying, Dotonbori is one of the must visit places in Osaka. I suggest going here twice Day and Night time but if you only have time to go once, go during the night. You might have trouble taking a photo with...More

Wow, what a place!! This place had everything going on. It’s like a carnival with a character of its own. You could spend a week here and you’d still want to come back. Great for all the street food. Cruise along the river or kids...More

Came here almost every night as we stayed nearby. Many many choices for food and shopping. Pretty crowded and full of tourists but that's what makes the atmosphere crazy and exciting! Very different views day and night.

You really should come here in the evening. We were at 7pm and it was great. Crowds of people and advertisements everywhere, blinking, talking, almost attacking you. Just like in movies about the future. Overwhelming, but good experience.

I don’t see why not! It’s very busy there, like the main tourist hub. Things tended to shut down around 10pm though in the back streets, maybe earlier.

If you do a google search of halal restaurants in Osaka you'll see there are a number of them.
