one of the largest shopping center in osaka, besides shopping, you can enjoy river cruise and eat some takoyaki and okonomiyaki on the riverside. have to be aware for most shop's closing time though

One of the best places we visited in Osaka. So many bright lights, shops and delicious food to be found! I would recommend going at night, but in the day it is equally as gorgeous!

Walked through the bazaars and then took the river cruise. That's the best way to see everything. Find a restaurant on one of the back alleys. Smaller the better. Very lively and vibrant

Good DIY Okonomiyaki restaurant near Shinsaibashi/Dotonbori (0 Replies)
Can anyone recommend a good okonomiyaki place in the shinsaibashi area? We're staying at the monterey grasmere hotel. We'd prefer a DIY style place because it sounds fun, and if an english menu was available that would be a bonus! Thanks in advance :-)

Instead of a day tour to Kyoto, you might want to consider staying in Kyoto for 2-3 days. There's actually quite a lot of places (Gion, imperial palace, temples etc) that you can visit in Kyoto. Alternatively, you can add a day tour to Nara.

I have a flight to PVG on a Friday scheduled at 9:30am. The day before, I'll be in Kyoto until mid afternoon. I'd like to spend the evening in Osaka, visiting Dotonbori. Should I stay in a hotel in the area and catch an early train to the airport? Or should I leave my luggage at Osaka station for the evening, visit a bit then go back to Osaka catch a train to the airport and spend the night at the airport? Just afraid I'll have to leave the hotel early if I stay in Osaka.. If I spend the...More

Of course you will have to leave the hotel early in the morning to get to the airport because of your flight time. However, you won't have to leave at the middle of the night. If you leave from Osaka, it takes roughly an hour to KIX. If you leave from Kyoto, it takes roughly 80 minutes. For a 9:30am flight, getting to the check-in counter at 7:30 or just after is fine. I wouldn't spend the night at the airport as it's unnecessary. If you stay at Kyoto, you save yourself one hotel move, but...More
