About
Andy, your half Japanese/half Australian guide will show you the incredible ghetto, retro zone, yakuza, redlight district, gambling dens and neighbourhood alleys of deep Osaka. Also you’ll be treated to a delicious traditional meal at a local family restaurant. We strive to show you the authentic Osaka, where you get a real and indepth understanding of the inner workings of this amazing city, visiting some astonishing architecture which is steeped in history and some run down, derelict areas too…..not what Osaka Tourism wants you to see! Andy has extensive knowledge of the Osaka region and can answer all your queries. We hope it’s going to be an eye opener and a real shock to the senses!
Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Japan

Awesome vibes on this tour. Would 100% take a tour with Deuce again. He was awesome. Really cool to see his rapport with everyone in the neighborhood. He also did a great job making conversation with everyone in the group.

Oh yeah, and the food and drink was great too :-)

Awesome tour with Matt the tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history and social/cultural aspect of the area. Make sure you have comfy shoes, check the weather and take a bottle of water. Very worthwhile tour.

Kevin was a great guide! Straight from the off he waited for us even though we were slightly late due to train drama. Very much appreciated! The tour itself was lovely and led at a calm pace with lots of conversation. The red light district was a highlight along with the meal at the end (which was superb!). Really enjoyed this tour, well worth the money. Thank you!

In all honestly my 22 yr old son and I thought we signed up for a food tour:). We were slightly disappointed at first but the tour made up for it. Saw the “unseen” side of Osaka and not the touristy side. Felt like we had a real glimpse of the real Japan while really appreciating the culture. Luca was great in explaining the Japanese culture and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Thank you!

An awesome look at the lesser looked at parts of Osaka. Mainly in the Shinsekai region
Our guide Luca was very informative and was able to project his voice to all in the group.
The optional dinner was a great way to finish the evening.

Our guide was Luca and he did a great time showing up around and giving up a unique look at Osaka, its history, and what may be coming in the years to come. I would recommend making this one of your first tours of the area as there are some areas I wish I'd had time to revisit (sadly this was on my last day). Even though it was raining pretty steadily our group had a great time and I saw things I don't think I ever would see otherwise.

Bennett and Luca did a great job taking us around to parts of Osaka that tourists rarely can get a glimpse of on their own. From the shrines, temples, back alley eateries with authentic Osaka soul food, to the outgoing and friendly Osakan people we met along the route, and respectfully bringing attention to the seldom-discussed homeless of Osaka - this experience will elevate your understanding of Japan and the culture and be the highlight you discuss with others when you get home.

Tour guide Andy was great. Very knowledgeable & passionate about the ‘other’ side of Osaka.
Took us to really interesting places you will never visit. (Always felt very safe)
Red Light District was one of the most unique places I have visited in the world. Dinner at the end of tour is a must do!

Thanks for all your additional efforts after the tour Andy - was really appreciated by all of us.

A bit of advice first.... make sure you have the meeting place well documented and rehearsed. Osaka is a busy bustling city.
On the tour you will learn a lot about the history of the region whilst sampling some real foodie delights and a few drinks. Be prepared to walk and talk a lot, you will certainly make a respectable days step count. The restos and bars are quaint but small, living space in Japan seems to be prime and family businesses are usually in very small quarters.
A worthwhile experience you should do..... if you don't mind walking a lot.

My husband and I took this tour with Matt as our guide. Matt is very charismatic and a great tour guide. He was also kind and engaging with various people we met on the street, such as a few homeless individuals. This is not an ordinary tourist tour, and you should be in good physical condition, as there is a lot of walking and standing and not a lot of breaks. There were two stops for street food and a dinner option that we elected. You definitely see a side of Osaka that the average tourist will not see. Matt is really in love with Osaka and it showed on this tour.
