    Healing of animals
If you go to the zoo in Osaka, it's easy to go to Tennoji Zoo, and it's close to the station. There are many kinds of animals, and I think it's good to go to see animals with friends, lovers and family. On the way back, it's in Tennoji, so it's possible to go to various shops.

    Under construction
A lot has improved since our last visit. Still at ¥500 per adult. Clean restrooms. Lots of vendo machines; lunch at cafeteria was good - chicken teriyaki, steak, curry 👍🏼 It is under construction but looking forward to it’s overhaul. No elephant as of this time. Has polar bear, giraffe, rhino, 2 big hippos! I’m very happy.

Good enough for a young toddler
We had a young toddler in tow with us so the size of the zoo was appropriate. Entrance fee was pretty cheap. Also, they are in the process of refurbishment so a few attractions were shut. I was a bit disappointed that there were no elephants but there were still enough animals to see for the price paid (and the fact that the toddler was more interested in running around). If you're looking for a place to go with a really young active toddler, check out Tennoji Zoo.

The zoo have many exhibits that are no longer active, elephants, koala etc..
Unfortunately we found out only after entering.

Of those active, the animals seemed well taken care of though mostly caged in relatively small enclosure.

I would give it a miss

I went to the Night Zoo on the weekend, and it has a different appeal from the daytime, so I recommend it. Most of the animals are nocturnal, so you can see behaviors that you don't usually see. The hippopotamus was particularly impressive. At first, I thought it was quiet, but it ran at high speed, stopped, and suddenly jumped into the water, letting out a roar. I've only ever seen polar bears sleeping, but you can see the animals having fun, jumping into the water and playing with toy buckets. You have to line up in a long line to get to a good view of the lions, but they didn't roar, and just sat still on a rock, perhaps because they felt uncomfortable with the different atmosphere from usual. It was crowded because it was held regularly, but a night theme park is exciting no matter how old you are. I was able to buy tickets in advance on the web with the "Osaka PITAPA Discount", so it was a good deal.

Do not visit this zoo. I've been fortunate to travel and visit many zoos around the world and this is one of the saddest and largest abusers of animal welfare I've seen.

Many handmade signs made out of cardboard and markers.

The polar bear exhibit looks like it's original from early 1900s. All concrete, no dirt, nothing. The Bear was extremely thin for its age range and was showing clear signs of stress. Pacing and pushing off a wall to pace the same route all over again.

The monkeys, many from Africa or south america, were in small cages left outside and shivering. They don't keep the interior door open for them to enter to keep warm, etc. Many of them are by themselves when they are social pact animals. Terrible

A mountain goat had a massive enclosure and it's the only goat. An old ram. Another social pact animal all by itself. It's enclosure was three times the size of the bears.

Both Jaguars had small enclosures.

The hippos left outside, no indoor enclosure I could see.

This zoo should be permanently shut down and animals relocated where they can be given the proper care deserving of them.

Do not go here

On April 26, 2023, I visited the upscaled «The Dragon» for the first time. «The Dragon» is one of the «The Tennōji Zoo 101 Project», and unlike the previous institutional environment I mentioned, the «The Dragon» and «The Dragon» are also likely to be mentioned. On the other hand, when he asked Dolan about the completion date of the currently under construction « Rainforest of Qafq », he received no clear answer. Especially if you have no reason to visit Tennōji Zoo right now, we recommend you visit Tennōji Zoo 101 after completion.

All under construction. Some areas are beautiful like the aviary, the savannah part with giraffes, zebra, etc. But the enclosures are very populated and the bears whose polar seems to suffer from madness:( On site, a restaurant and a souvenir shop as well as small snack stands. There is a small museum part with beautifully enhanced stuffed animals.

It's just sad what you see here. The animals look emaciated and lethargic, the lions and wolves have shaggy fur. Many animals have strange wounds on their bodies and walk around in a conspicuous manner in their cages.

The birds' enclosures aren't even big enough to spread their wings. We left the zoo as quickly as possible and are very annoyed that we supported SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

Animal welfare or an organization should take notice.

To make matters worse, local visitors don't even seem to notice how sick and poor the animals look and how they are kept.

We found the zoo very neglected, it was too sad to see the animals are watery dirt space especially bears, wolves, chimpanzees, hippos and penguins, it really broke our hearts to see the space of wolves and bears, I think it is not right to teach children how they have them because I could see many groups of school there, I ask in the best way to take this comment into consideration. I think zoos are important for many reasons but I think the animals need to have better quality especially in this zoo in Osaka. Thank you for reading my comment.
