Umeda, sandwiched between Osaka and Umeda station, is as busy as they say. The shopping and dining opportunities are vast given that Hankyu Entertainment Park (HEP) and Daimaru are within walking distance. One particular highlight is the well lit up, giant Ferris wheel on the top floor of HEP, not far from the amusements and arcades. The view of Osaka... More

Admittedly accessibility is odd but the tourist information centre at Osaka Station appears to have addressed it rather well with a free detailed pictorial map to the landmark attraction. A 10-minute walk got us there. A charming Christmas bazaar was in progress on the public plaza during our visit adding to the festivities. The traffic up to the floating "garden"... More

This is worth a visit if you can find it, but that's not easy - one day I looked for ages and couldn't find it, the next I found it whilst looking for something else! If you bookmark Osaka Grand Front on your map and find it, you should be able to find signs pointing you to an underpass leading... More

The vibe of Shin-Umeda City (or "New Umeda City") is as urban as you can expect, and in all the best ways. The streets remind you of New York City, with its clean sidewalks and orderly crowds. Ginko trees line the roads, and tourist centers are available if you want to tour without fuss. It's a great place to settle,... More

Really beautiful views. Just the place to chillax & enjoy the view with your partner or family. There is a cafe up there & maybe some restaurants (saw the name but no sight of entrance), so you can have a snack or drink while up there. Set aside 2 hours for this. Try to time your visit such that you... More

Due to the location of the building it offers the best view of Osaka from above. Needless to say, go there just before sunset and stay till it gets dark! Be prepared, it will be very hard to take pictures of the sunset when the sky is clear... Getting to the tower is a bit hard as there is a... More

Even though access to the Shin Umeda City is a bit cumbersome because of the construction area between it and Umeda Station, the few minutes walk through the underground pass is worth of ones while.

If you want say something with your lovers, I would suggest this place to do that. Sitting side by side to see a very nice of city light is very romantic. You can also buy a key and hang here to be the witness of love of you two.

Interesting. Was a source of pride for Japan in the 60s becasue of the then unprecedented method of building the top observation deck of the skyscraper. For millenials, a so-so destinatio since Japan has so many towers and high places one can go to, even within Osaka. Still, if you stay near the area, go see it. Very nice views... More

After visitin Osaka Castle, we also wanted to have a glimpse of "modern" Osaka and went to Shin Umeda City. My recommendation is that you leave Umeda station and go to "Sky Building" (SkyBiru). Once there you can go to the observation terrace on the top floor (if you are on a budget, just stay on the floor below the... More
