淀川と大川の分岐点

大川と新淀川の分岐点にある施設です。中に入って見ることはできませんが、淀川の堤防の遊歩道からはごく近いところから見ることができて、なかなかおもしろいです。重要文化財に指定されている初代のレンガ造りの閘門・水門も保存されていますので、こちらも必見です！

たびたび起こる洪水対策のため、旧淀川こと大川と淀川を管理する施設で、ここから下流方面への水量の調節など。ここは鉄道の線路のポイント管理所みたいな場所。もう一つは現淀川と大川の水位の高さが違うため、ここを移動する船のエレベーターと言いますか、船ごと昇降するシステムがあり、これの運用が主たる施設です。まるでダムのような迫力ある施設です。
