We visited a few years ago and got up to the 39th floor and got some cool views around the escalators for free. In this area there is a ticket office to pay for the observation deck area but it was too busy when we went to justify it on New Year's Day (January 1) so we just admired the building from the outside. There was lots of construction in the area in January with some cyclists using the pedestrian areas but hopefully this clears up soon. Tickets for entry are now 2000 yen for adults. It is about a 12 minute walk from the Osaka Station and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes in the area. During the month leading up to Christmas the plaza out front hosts a German Christmas Market.

As soon as we stepped out of Osaka train station, this distinctive looking building was clearly visible. From there, it was an easy 5 minute walk. You can get virtually to the top, including riding up the 'great view' escalators, for free. You can see a great deal of Osaka from high up at various spots as you go. But for that little extra of being able to go outside onto the top of the roof - or the Observatory - as they call it, it is definitely worth paying a little extra (only 2000 yen each) From there you have a wonderful 360 degree view, and get to see Kyoto in the distance, and be surprised and impressed by the number of bridges Osaka has crossing its river below. And unlike the two towers we went up in Tokyo, you are not tied down to a particular time if you book online in advance. Just turn up on your chosen day whenever you feel like it.

We were staying in the business area and walked from our hotel in 25 minutes. Visited in February so it was not busy. Didn’t prebook tickets. Used the English friendly machine for tickets once there. As you go around there are window nitches to take some great photos. Also a mirrored ceiling so dont forget to look up for interesting selfies. We saw lots of people doing this and copied them. You will then come to a cafe/bar area. Very gratefull to nab a table right next to a window to enjoy a beer ( also icecream). Busy, so if see a table grab it. On the other side of the cafe is a row of counter stools that follow the windows around for some excellent views. It’s a lot busier in this section if you want to find a place to sit. After this bit there is a small theater to see how the building was constructed and toilets. You can then continue up the stairs, or elevator to get up to the top and walk around the building. It’s not enclosed but outside In the fresh air. This wasn’t a place we put on or must sees. We needed a place to see before check in. So glad we came.

Be prepared for around a 10-15 minute walk from the Umeda Station as there was a bit of construction going on and streets were boarded up when we were visiting back in July. There were no signs indicating which direction to head to ; therefore, it took us a while to locate the right way as we had to locate the Umeda Sky Building to guide us over. You will need to purchase your ticket to the Observatory on the 45th floor when you enter to the entrance on the right side as you face the Umeda Sky Building. Take the escalator to the 3rd floor, then the elevator to the 39th floor to purchase your entrance ticket at the machines. They accept credit cards. Continue your visit by heading on the glass elevator ride up to the 45th floor for the last five stories. Make sure you get the dated eki stamp of your visit from the Information Shop when you exit from the elevator ride up. Upon arrival it was currently decorated with many colorful Japanese paper umbrellas on the floor and walls. Continue your visit around the building and up to the outdoor Observatory decks-- be careful as it can get windy. Great views of the Osaka skyline. Notice that the commute hours are not like the United States as the bridges and roads are not that full. Majority of the Japanese people utilize the subway as their means of transportation around!! What a difference!! Worth a visit up here !

This is Osaka’s most well-known landmark. There are two 40 stories towers which are interconnected with glass panels with an escalator. The top of the building has a unique circular ring structure. The ticket to go up to the observatory is ¥1500 which is cheaper than a lot of other observatories in other big cities. While it has nothing really spectacular, this is a place to tick the box that one has been to Osaka.

Glass lift all the way to the top, so not for the faint heated. Great views around the city. The art gallery is worth a visit in the other part of the building. A 3D show to start and then wander around looking at some fascinating pieces of artwork. Small cafe is located at the end of the gallery with some snacks and drinks.

Architecturally very intriguing building You go up in the elevator to the 45th floor (140 meters) then through a cantilevered escalator you reach the terrace from which you can admire a great 360 degree panorama of the city of Osaka It is the tallest building in the city To go up 1500 yen It can also be visited at night until 10pm

We purchased the Osaka pass and this was included. We got there just before sunset and luckily didn't have to pay anything additional. I chose this one over the other building offering views because of the escalator and unique architecture. We enjoyed the view and waited for sunset as well as the novelty and also as it was getting ready for Xmas there were decorations on the 39th floor. We stayed for a couple of hours. It was quite a hike to get there from Umeda Station as there was much construction going on in the surrounds. We later went for dinner at a ramen place near an undercover street near there which was buzzing. Glad we went there and tend to only pick one place per city to look at the view.

Architecturally this building is amazing. 170m and 40 floors. There is a shop, cafe and viewing area on the 39th floor and then you walk up another flight to go onto the outside deck. Great view of Osaka despite some fog. We enjoyed both the escalators up and down. There is also a quaint area in the basement with restaurants, all made to look like an old street.

Located several blocks form my hotel, I passed this attraction while walking from my hotel to the Osaka Station during my 4-day stay in Osaka.I noted people walking towards it and did not know that it is an attraction. Entrance fee is 1,500 yen or about $10.00. I used the escalators to reach the Reception area where the entrance fees are paid. To go up the Viewing area, we took the elevator and several escalators. To go further up, one has to use the stairs. Nice viewing areas here, to see Osaka and its various neighborhoods, bridges, etc. There is a Gift Shop, small museum, restaurants in the building. Some exhibits also explain the architects’ vision about the buildings. Outside, there are some gardens to visit, some fountains too.

Excellent view of Osaka City and the surrounding areas from the top floor of Umeda Sky Building!
The task of processing the many visiting tourists was very effective and quick and with no more than maximum 10 minutes of waiting between the main lobby and the top floor!
Although there seem to be a couple of other very tall buildings in Osaka available I had only time for one of them on this occasion. And I think I made a good choice with a grand sunset view from the top floor, particularly towards the river and even the sea beyond...!
The general architecture of this building is very interesting, I think.

Unfortunately, we expected more considering we paid 2000ÂĄ just for the view upstairs, unfortunately, the aesthetic of Osaka, wasn't too exciting here as we were expecting and comparing it to other paid entries, we were disappointed. Paying a fraction of the price in Osaka castle that gave us far more entertainment that lasted more than 5 minutes. Sadly, this did not meet our expectations. On the outside, the building is stunning, but that's as far as it got for us

The architectural design of the building is stunning. Best viewed from afar. I came from Umeda Metro. The Building isn't clearly signposted (until you get nearer) as Umeda Metro Station is huge. Look at the website for Umeda Sky Building and follow the directions from there. About 10 minutes or less on foot from Umeda Metro or there are other transport options as well. The Building houses many things including a Cine Libre. You can access part of the Observatory for free but pay the fee which is pretty reasonable at 1,500 Japanese Yen (June, 2023). The KUCHU TEIEN OBSERVATORY, Rooftop and Sky Walk were great. To reach the top, you will use an elevator, escalator and stairs. All quick and easy to navigate. Staff are friendly and pleasant and will guide you. Loved the escalator! Very cool. The 'museum' is interesting and you can learn more about the design of the building amongst other things. There is a cafe where you can buy snacks, drinks and other things as well as a shop selling good quality items (although a little pricey). Clean. There are toilets too. When you purchase your ticket as you enter, if you have cash use the automated machines. Otherwise go to the ticket counter if you want to pay with card and the staff will assist with this. I went early afternoon and it was busy. Nice views and weather was good. I wouldn't suggest going on a rainy day as the top part of the Observatory is open and it can be windy. For me, what I liked the most was the design and reaching the top. The escalator was pretty cool. Views were nice but not stunning. Would recommend.

Spectacular views from a spectacular building, when you get there take the elevator to the top then take the escalator to second highest level, have a walk around and take in the stunning views of Osaka, walk around, maybe have a drink or something to snack on, then climb the stairs or take the elevator to the top of the building where there’s an outside observation walk with breathtaking views. There is a souvenir shop to browse through with lots of things that may interest you. My favourite part of the exhibition is the information room which not only has descriptions of the building sequence in English, Chinese and Korean but best of all is the short 10-minute video which shows the lifting of the top structure with 4 cranes, the structure weighed 1040 tonnes and took 7 hours to lift into place, this is the first time for this practice to be used, I thoroughly recommend spending the time reading the information and watching the video, when you finish at the top be sure to walk around the beautiful garden oasis, it was fascinating to find a serene place like this in the middle of this huge metropolis, be sure to look for the vivid coloured carp that wait for you with mouth's open hoping for a snack. I hope you enjoy this magnificent structure as much as I did.

Visited around lunchtime and hoped to get a drink in the sky lounge. Unfortunately, this doesn't open until 17:00, entrance to the 39th floor is free, you only have to pay to enter the observation deck on the 40th.
Decided the price for one extra floor wasn't worth it.
Nice little basement with many little cafes, done in a rather twee olde worldy style, but worth a look if you want a drink or snack and the lounge at the top isn't open

The building offers wonderful 360 degree views from its viewing platform. It was also lovely that you could view from outside or within an enclosed level. We went just before sunset, which is ideal as you can see the city both in the light and dark, all in one visit. There is a café where you can purchase meals and a range of beverages, so it is easy to sit back and just take in the view for however long you may like.

The worst thing is the climb between the towers. It's fun to walk around and see the city. The division into levels is well done, for those who are afraid of heights and realized that they only have two options to stay and not pay for the entrance. After payment there is another floor, completely glazed and only the floor above has an open roof. There are still 3 meters of covered roof to the edge, so that everyone is sure to be safe.
You can go just once. Price for July 2023 1500 yen.

Beautiful views on a clear day. The open/ outdoor top floor offered great views with full feel of the weather elements without glass hindrance. This made the experience very enjoyable. One could stay here for hours and enjoy the day and sunset views. The floor below has a cafe and counter sears which offers nearly 180 deg window views. Great spot for young couples or a lovely evening out. Wish we had gone sooner as would have love to sit there for a day with coffee and tea and idle some time with a good book and great sky views.

This was included in our Osaka amazing pass - we went at sunset right before 6pm. The view was OK, you definitely see the entire Umeda vicinity but you'll see better sunset in Hawaii, and better landmarks from the Shard in London. So it was just OK. I do appreciate the architecture, design, however., and I particularly loved looking up from the ground at the building more than looking at the city from the open deck on the top. The escalators are cool.

While you can pay for the outdoor view from the 40th floor we opened to stop at the 37th and save the entrance fee yen. Therefore we can’t comment on the paid view. However our view was well worth the elevator ride. There’s a souvenir shop where you an peek through and see what I think you see from the top.

It was an easy walk from the Westin hotel and not much further from the JR station.
