Private Tour is worth the price

We availed the private taxi tour for about 8 hours (1 day). Getting a private taxi to get you around is definitely worth the money. Besides having a guide to ask anything about, it saves so much time and effort from having to take the bus or taxis, especially as there were 5 of us in our group (taxis would take only 4 people maximum). You can be flexible with your itinerary and schedule.

Our tour guide was Tad. He reached out to me via email to finalize our itinerary before our actual tour, which was nice because we had an idea what to expect. He gave really good suggestions on where to go, to see different parts of Kyoto. He was very helpful and knowledgeable, and made sure we had a good time.

First time travelers to Kyoto, and, with a 9 month old!

Our tour guide Alex was A++ and I would recommend him to anyone. We live in Tokyo and this was our first trip to Kyoto and first time traveling with our 9 month old. Alex assisted in every way possible going above and beyond to make us comfortable, modify your routes, carry the baby cart, take photos and explain the history of Kyoto, and beyond. Being fluent in both English and Japanese made each aspect seamless. Thank you Kyoto Daily Tours and Alex for making our trip memorable.

A really fun day!!!

I was very specific about having a guide who would be able to give my husband and me an in-depth overview of the history of Kyoto, with a particular focus on the Heian Period, also known as the golden age of Japan. Javier did not disappoint. We worked together on constructing a one day itinerary which would best serve our specific interest. Yet we appreciated also very much how Javier also added a more contemporary perspective on the various places that we visited.
Our tour took included Kinkakuji Temple, Ryoanji temple, Arashiyama
Fushimi Inari Shrine Kiyomizu Temple, Nanzenji temple. Javier was totally accommodating in adding visits that were not on the original itinerary. He really wanted us to thoroughly enjoy our day! Thank you, Javier!

Christmas Week In Kyoto

My wife and I went to Kyoto over Christmas week. We had four full days in Kyoto and decided to book three days of private tours and leave one day open. We contacted Kyoto Daily Tours and was very happy with the service. They are very responsive and respond right away to any request for information (factoring in time zones). They staff helped us choose ancient Kyoto, classic Kyoto, and Nara tours. These were excellent choices.

When we put down the deposit, they assigned the guide that day. This was very unique as we were about six weeks out. The guide contacted us right away. His name is Alex. He was available from that point to help us with last minute planning. He was also very responsive.

We met Alex in Kyoto. He took us around on foot, bus, train, and tram. In other words, we were traveled around just like the locals. We enjoyed that very much. Alex also made sure we maximized our time in Kyoto. He learned things we liked and tweaked the trip based on that. Since we had one day open he adjusted the tours to let us explore things nearby the hotel on our own. Alex also made sure on the first day to teach us how to get around. At the end of the tour, he let us know he was still available for post trip questions or future plans. Alex is a great guy.

The combination of Kyoto Daily Tours and our guide made our trip to Kyoto great. We will use both again if we visit Kyoto.

Grace Under Pressure: Terrific Service

Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus my son and I are unable to go on the trip to Japan we've planned for a long time. One of the first tours I booked was a night walk through Kyoto's Geisha district - the Kyoto Daily Tours offers one that's very well reviewed. The booking, deposit, and confirmation all went very smoothly, and Javier followed up with me several times. Then, disaster struck and our entire trip had to be cancelled. This is why I give high marks, because of the grace, understanding, and swift refund...

I feel terrible for all of us and know we can come through this. I'll visit Japan at some point and when I do, Javier will be the first person I contact!

Incredible day spent in Kyoto guided by Nicolas, a French speaking Swiss guide from Kyoto Daily Tours. I asked him to “experience” rather than “visit” the city and it by far exceeded my expectations. I discovered Kyoto past and present and highly recommend his services.

Fantastic day in Kyoto

My group had a wonderful day with Eriko! She is so knowledgeable and friendly, and I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated her planning and organizing for our day in Kyoto. I would 1000% recommend this tour to anyone coming to visit the city.

Best 2 days of Kyoto

We were met by our friendly guide Javier.He showed us sites with narration of its history and culture and brought us to interesting places of eateries. The family was amazed of Kyotos beauty and what it offered but we were all appreciative of the time given by our guide with his knowledge and patience to be able to absorb the culture and tranquility that Kyoto brings in whatever limited time we had to remember and bring back those memories back home to be shared with others.Thanks Javier for an amazing and unforgettable trip.

Gion Evening Walk and Kyoto Highlights

Our guide Javier was superb.

For both tours he covered the main attractions with insight, commanding knowledge of history, and with very good patience in relation to our easily distracted children.

But then he also took us off the main tourist thoroughfares for some quiet, exclusive trips down pathways close by. So we saw all the main attractions, but also little shops and paths, and gardens and ponds we would not have discovered but for his knowledge and guidance.

Highly recommend! And hope to see Javier again when we next go to Kyoto.

We loved the half day tour through Kyoto. Javier was excellent explaining the history, customs, minor details of surroundings. Kyoto is beautiful and definitely needs more than half a day. Will have to come back.
