Enjoyed this bit of tranquility amidst the busy tourist filled streets. love the fact that this Shinto Shrine is specifically to support and protect the entertainment and geisha district. Watch out for the speeding taxi cabs who seemed very inpatient and rather un-japanese. guess the...More

This is a gorgeous shrine on machine Bashi Street in an area noted for its prosperity from the end of the EdI period through the Meiji period .

This charming little shrine is on the corner of Shinbashi and Shirakawa Minami Dori. If you are visiting this beautiful old part of Kyoto, look out for it as you could miss it, with so many other lovely buildings to distract you.

A Shrine I made an effort to visit. Just a few steps away from Shijo-Diri. Beautiful in it's simplicity. Not crowded too which is a rarity in the Gion District

Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko"
in Kyoto). Though Gion's many tea houses and
entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners,
Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with
