Private Tour - Kyoto, Nara & Ujii

It’s always important to acknowledge exceptional professionals who go above and beyond in their work, and Mr. Isao Tanahara is undoubtedly one of them. I highly recommend MK for private guided tours of Kyoto, Nara, and Uji. The booking process was seamless, with MK responding promptly to emails in English. They also offer a wide selection of new, well-maintained vehicles.

We thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Tanahara’s guided tour, conducted in fluent English. He was extremely polite, detail-oriented, and deeply knowledgeable about the historical sites. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone seeking a personalized and unforgettable experience.

Comfortable way to see Kyoto

Mr Kenji Kato from MK Taxi drove us around Kyoto yesterday. We very much enjoyed being driven around by Kenji. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about various sights in Kyoto. He also recommended a nice conveyor belt sushi restaurant (Kura) for us to have lunch.

We are a young Italian couple who had the pleasure of sharing two wonderful days with Nobuto Shimizu. He was recommended to us by some friends in Italy. Nobuto-san was kind, cheerful and above all he is a prepared person. There is no better person to visit Kyoto with thanks to his culture and his knowledge of Japanese history. He speaks perfect English and it is not easy to find in Japan. He was an added value to our trip. We highly recommend him thanks to his professionalism. Our trip to Kyoto would not have been so special without him: a guide and much more. One of those people who enter your heart and we will never forget. Furthermore, he is also a very good photographer, he helped me with a special request I had made of him. In one word, unforgettable!!

Wonderful dive into Kyoto’s major historical landmarks with a Great Guide!

Our guide, Mr Yuuichi Nakamura was Excellent! Being a true blue Kyotoite, he knew the city by heart and also had a strong command of English, though he modestly said his English was a bit rusty after 3 years of Covid forced him to regularly practice his spiels in English in his car as he drove all around empty and quiet Kyoto to keep up his skills. He was Very Knowledgeable about the history of each of the sites we visited from 9am to 5pm. He even had an insider’s history commentary about many of the sites, respectfully giving alternative possible interpretations to popular historical beliefs that came out of his own research or from the teachings of his senior mentor who happened not to speak English. And finally, consider a quick and fantastic ramen lunch at his recommended ramen chain! The spicy Tantanmen was delicious and hearty! We wud recommend Mr Nakamura and MK Taxi to anyone who wants to get to know Kyoto and the history of its temples, shrines and castles! 👍

Best Kyoto Day with Shozo Saka

Our family of four had an incredible day with Mr. Shozo Saka. It was our last day in Japan and only second day in Kyoto so there was still so much we wanted to see and do. Mr. Shozo was able to take our ambitious itinerary and not only make it possible, but we didn't feel rushed and were able to do even more than we thought!

Mr. Shozo's English is excellent. He is friendly, gracious, flexible, knowledgable & enthusiastic about sharing Kyoto - we could not recommend him highly enough!

Thank you so much Shozo - we will see you next time!

Gary Brockett Mk Charter Expert Guide/Translator

A great family vacation to Kyoto and Osaka thanks to our MK Charter guide/translator Gary Brockett.  Having someone that was fluent in both English and Japanese was invaluable in making our trip such a success.  Gary was very knowledgeable and familiar with both cities and was able to tailor our visit around things that were of most interest to us.   Gary was a great guide…..friendly, very attentive and accommodating, and we struck up a great relationship that lasted throughout the three days we were together.   We valued his expertise in obtaining reservations for services which were fully booked! We especially liked stories of his own experiences, including his “Lost in Translation” photos.  Thank you MK Charter and especially Gary for an unforgettable trip.

Truly made me blush :) While I'm a little jealous of Michael & Maki's budding bromance, your kind words (actually my first ever review!) have really made my year (already! ;) While I don't venture out of the office that much, the praise that you've showered me with makes me feel much more confident the next time I'm called out! :) Of course most of the work of your tour was down to Maki, but I'll steal a little bit of credit where I can. Hope that you & Michael got round to watching 'Lost In Translation', and that you're already secretly (or not so secretly) planning your return to Kyoto! Safe, reliable and professional car service through a snowstorm

Thank you MK taxi for your safe, reliable and professional service. MK taxi drove us from Osaka Universal Studios back to Kyoto on a snowstorm night when highway was closed and traffic was paralysed. Our drive which was meant for an hour and half ended up as a 7+ hour drive. Our driver was very professional and patient with our three tired and hungry children, offered to stop at a restaurant/convenience store for much needed food, drink and washroom break. He also wisely and safely drove through alternative route to get us safely back to the hotel and arrived past midnight. Thank you MK taxi.

BugheadBee, Thank you SO MUCH for your heartwarming tale of our outstanding service on that scary blizzard day a few weeks ago! After a little digging, I found that your 'above & beyond' driver was Mr.Hashimoto, and his colleague who assisted his translation to you on the phone was Mr.Nakamura. Both of them were SO HAPPY that you took time to write this great review, and praise their professional customer service! It has been shared through the company, and their bosses have taken note of it. It's these qualities that Mr Hashimoto & Mr.Nakamura embody that makes us so proud of them as a company, and it is great to hear that they could please such wonderful customers as yourselves. Of course we would love to show you even more of our outstanding customer service next time you come to Japan, but maybe in a slightly warmer season ;) Best Regards

Fantastic city tour! Ask for Mr. Shozo Saka!

We were fortunate enough to have Mr. Shozo Saka take us on a 6 hour tour around Kyoto and see some beautiful sights. He was early and impeccably dressed and the car was beautiful. He reviewed our plan for the next few hours and was eager to get feedback and see what else we were interested in on the tour. He provided some handouts and was incredibly knowledgeable about the city and all the locations we went to. He patiently helped us with pictures and baggage and even went back to one of the restaurants to get something we had forgotten while we were touring one of the temples. I really can't say enough about how beautiful Kyoto is and how fantastic it was having Mr. Saka take us around. You must ask for him!

The perfect pairing indeed! Kyoto MK's Shozo Saka & the Beautiful Kyoto City!! THANKS SO MUCH, Kirsten. We really appreciate you spending the time to write your impressions of your FANTASTIC 6 hour tour with Kyoto MK. All of our Hire Drivers have their own styles, but a quick glance at this page will testify to how many people Mr.Saka has charmed with his knowledge, attitude, skillful guiding and of course his impeccable dress sense (a point often overlooked, but still mightily important, I'm sure all flygirls agree ;) We are SO happy that you enjoyed your first experience with Shozo, but rest assured, Kyoto, like all classic cities, can be explored for a lifetime and STILL enchant & enthrall at every turn. And of course, Kyoto MK is MORE than happy to take you further on that journey of discovery, when you are able make it back here again. We're waiting for you!!

Day trip in Kyoto

I had a wonderful tour guide name Mr. Shozo Saka for a day trip in Kyoto, Japan. He was so nice and thoughtful — meticulous in preparation and in completing the sightseeing trip around Kyoto. He has an excellent fund of knowledge in history, culture and arts, as well as religion (Shintoism vs. Buddhism). And he speaks English so well! He also took us to a hidden gem of a restaurant (reportedly operating for over 100 years) for lunch, not a tourist trap with a long wait. A fantastic meal at a reasonable price…. All in all, I could not have had a better day trip in Kyoto — thanks to Mr. Saka (MK Taxi)
