This Gallery is somewhat difficult to get to, depending where you are staying... save stress catch a taxi but have google map pre-organised as most taxi drivers cannot speak even basic English. Like many “attractions” in Japan nothing quite works the way it is promised....More

A bit difficult to find but worth it. They offer the normal info about the exhibit. English was a download and then they handed you headphones. All of the English speakers had IPhones. Need wireless headphones. Exhibit was beautiful, interesting, and educational. It is always...More

They say that Japanese galleries operate on the basis that less is more - and that's definitely true of this art gallery. There really isn't a lot to see. Even the highlights listed in my michelin guidebook weren't all on display - in fact hardly...More

Only the top floor that contains the museum's permanent collection was available for viewing. The other two floors were closed because they were preparing for exhibits. Yes, the permanent collection does have a couple of interesting pieces but it may not be worth it if...More

This is the biggest rip-off. They list a huge inventory of Modern Art however, only one small floor is actually on display and we were in and out within 20 minutes. It's not worth the effort and a joke compared to other museums we have...More

Through exhibit and a rare occasion to see in full blossom Van Cleef & Arpels mastery of jewelry, from its beginnings to nowadays. Beautiful pieces reminiscent of times past. A must see for those who love gemology and jewelry.

The permenant collection is somewhat small but the current exhibit of Japanese fine art and Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry is a work of art in itself. Hardly anywhere else will you see pieces of jewelry displayed to such advantage, outside of Germany and the...More

City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its
blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered
shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street

peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home
goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center
is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and
clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of

These are the place I plan to visit in Kyoto for 3 days. [Do comment if there are a bit too cramped though] In which order should I visit them? Also, please suggest some other interesting places to go I may have missed out in my research. - Soshunan - Nijo Castle - Costume Museum - Kyoto National Museum of Modern Art - Nisonin - Manga Museum - Kyoto Tower - Mt Hiei - Traditional Craft Musuem - JR Kyoto Isetan - Golden Pavilion - Cat Cafe Nekokaigi - Shogunzuka

I would add Sanjusangen-do and Silver Pavilion. Your plan is doable.
