Together with Nanzenji temple, these are the top two temples for autumn foliage. The range of colours from red to pink to yellow to orange was just mesmerizing. Must see.

When I visited Tofukuji autumn this year, the timing was perfect. The leaves were so red, that it looked like red clouds from Tsutenkyo bridge. I arrived early, before 9AM, but there were already so many people inside. I had to wait for around 15...More

Tofuku-ji Temple is one of the go to places for leaf peepers visiting Kyoto in the fall. Despite a huge herd of people they do a decent job of making things reasonably bearable. The view from the two bridges is not to be missed, take...More

Just one stop away from kyoto or inari JR station, this temple is popular especially during the autumn time because of the amazing red leaves which filled the whole site! It was flooded with people the day I went but it was worth it!

Tofukuji is oldest and largest temple in Kyoto, while the super big Sanmon gate is the oldest in Japan. The entrance gate is not the Sanmon gate. Sanmon stood nearly at the center of the view from the entrance, shaped more like a temple than...More

This is perhaps the most famous autumn spot in Kyoto, and maybe all of Japan. The bridge over the ravine filled with red, orange, and yellow is packed with visitors every year during the autumn months. If you go, be prepared for the crowded, but...More

Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi
Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist
attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens,
temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for
strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine
itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the
mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers,
picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the

There are many flights of steps to get to the temple. Some of the pavement are laid with gravels. Suggest you carry your baby in a sling.
