The location is great, it's super easy to find, and the owner and staff were all absolutely amazing! I am very grateful for the opportunity to practice Kembu while visiting Kyoto. I attended Kembu Theatre for a solo, 3-day course. It was a profound experience. I learned the story of a Samurai poet, Shiganari, who met his end on the battlefield hundreds of years ago. I learned to enact his story on stage, and then I performed his story for a small audience. I felt very honoured to have walked with his spirit. Behind the ancient warriors were artists, poets and storytellers. And behind the swords and the bravery were their spirits: and this is where Kembu begins. G The Swordsman Ten long years I've honed this sword: Its frost white blade is yet untried. Today, like any other gentleman, it's looking for injustice. Wu Pen (779-843)

The show was beautifully performed. We really loved the representation of Samurai time period and felt learned more about that way of life. We would highly recommend as way to experience culture of Japan.

This experience was really cool. We arrived about 10 minutes late and had to do the first part in our jeans and toe socks, but that was completely our own fault. The instructor was funny but also stressed the importance of certain aspects of what we were learning. We had the hour session but in hindsight, maybe the hour and a half would have been a good option as well. I felt a tiny bit rushed through the first part but...that’s probably because we were late. Photo time was awesome.

It was a fun and exciting show to attend. When I was there for the show, unfortunately a group reservation cancelled their attendance, fortunately the staffs were kind enough to still proceed with the show albeit a shorter one, but they compensated the time with a short samurai sword lesson, which is very enjoyable and fun !! There were only 2 of us (another lady was in attendance too) and we had a very good and happy moments enjoying the show and learning a short samurai sword lesson. Overall, high recommended and nice and friendly staffs !!! Because it was only two of us, it's as if we booked and reserved the entire theater for ourselves ^^
