Neighborhood: Nishijin District
A district with a long textile heritage, ancient Kyoto is still alive in the Nishijin District. Studded with its weaving factories, tea houses, and onsen, the neighborhood is charming and peaceful with a self-possessed air. Less traveled than other parts of the city, it is a district where you can take it at your own pace. Visitors can explore the many weaving and cloth houses, the free kimono shows, and the many shops selling traditional clothing and goods. Showcasing architecture with sloping roofs and wooden reliefs dating to decades past, the streets in the Nishijin District transport you back in time, making them a joy to wander.

The "Kitano Odori" is held in spring, and the "Kotobuki-kai" is held in autumn. The Kamishichiken Beer Garden will be held from July 1st (Saturday) to September 5th (Tuesday), 2023. The biggest feature is that the maikos wear pink yukatas and the geikos wear light blue yukatas when they come to talk to you.

This theather is around 30 min bus ride from Kyoto, in one of the oldest Kyoto Geisha neighbourhoods. Before the performance we had a tea ceremony. It was short, more for tourists. But there were geishas preparing tea, every visitor got a green tea cup and japanese sweet desert. Also small clay plates as souvenir. The performance was very traditional japanese, dramatic and very colourful story. It lasted around 1,5h. Last dance was just amazing, there were around 20 performers, with amazing kimonos.

First time in this kind of show. It started with the tea ceremony, it was very short but we got nice plates as a gift. We saw keiko preparing the tea from few meters away. Then we had half an hour time to check the garden and buy some local snacks.

The show itself is kind of opera, couldn't understand much but it's worth to at least see.
