I made two museum stops in Kyoto, the Museum of Kyoto and this one. This one only took about an hour, but it was by far the more engaging and memorable stop for me. It's a tiny place when compared to most museums, but it...More

We only had short time in the morning before catching our train to Tokyo so this small museum was perfect. Kids absolutely loved it. Lots of different types of kaleidoscopes with fascinating colors and patterns. Unfortunately, no English translation (or tour), even tho the employees...More

Perfect place for a break from the temples! Small (1 room) but lots of Kaleidoscopes to look at/through with very colourful "animations" to look at. We (as adults) and our 6 and 7 year olds enjoyed spending a quiet hour there. There is quite a...More

It was really cool seeing so many different kaleidoscopes and what joy quite simple things can give you. It’s a very small museum, but it takes quite some time to go through it all. A very good rainy day activity! I just wish it wasn’t...More

City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its
blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered

is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and
