Me and my mom took three tours with Kazue (Arashiyama, Nara, Kurama to Kibune). Kazue was an amazing guide and tailored the tours to our interests. She discussed native plants to Japan and pointed them out as we came across them (my mom loves gardening and Japanese plants). She was extremely accommodating to my vegan diet, and made reservations at... More

I can't recommend this agency enough. Koko was so helpful in the planning of our time in Japan and made some sugestions that tuned out to be the highlights of our 2 weeks in Japan. She let me know the hotel I had booked that looked good was in fact in a very boring part of the city and recommended... More

We only had a day in Kyoto so took 2 private walking tours back to back; walk 3 and walk 4. Our guide met us at the station and the directions provided for this were very comprehensive and helpful. 2 tours in one afternoon meant a lot of walking, but it was worthwhile and was a highlight of our trip... We took at 4 hour walking tour of Northern Higashiyama, with our guide Kanna. She was well-informed, charming and helpful. She was able to answer our questions and tell us much more about the sites and the philosophy underlying them than we would have been able to get on our own. We visited Nanzen-ji, Ginkaku-ji and the philosophers path. Highly... More

Thank you very much for your kind review! I'm delighted that you enjoyed your tour with Kana. She will also be very happy to hear this. The temples you visited, including Nanzen-ji, are some of my favorite temples in Kyoto. I'm glad that you got to see that side of the city. I really appreciate you sharing your comments here.... We took three tours with two different guides through Chris Rowthorn and would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Japan. Terrific guides did everything they could to please us! I would certainly use them again in Japan or other destinations. Great communication including a handwritten note at our hotel in Tokyo when we arrived. Talk about service!!!

Our guides Junko in Tokyo and Kazue in Kyoto were Kaur perfect. Knowledgable. Kind. Flexible. Just two incredibly wonderful people sharing their home cities with strangers. The part that utterly blew us away was that we had the misfortune of being robbed while in Kyoto. At a Shinto shrine nonetheless. I know right... But both our guides, one in person... More

Our guide, Kazue, was probably the one of the best - if not the best - guide we've had on a overseas tour. Her English was perfect, and her knowledge of the sights and back streets of Kyoto was impressive. We took the 4-hour southern Higashigama tour back to back with the two-hour evening Gion tour. She expertly navigated us... More

Ms Kana Hattori was our guide for a 6 hour walking tour of Arashiyama and Ryoan-ji temple. She was friendly, professional and informative. Importantly she didn't see the need to fill in all silences - sometimes you just need to absorb it all quietly. Highly recommended.

Then driving through the Akasaka Guest House. The Akasaka Guest House is a magnificent western-style palace built in the baroque style. Next drive by the Japanese Capitol, dominated by a massive tower and visit the Imperial Palace East Garden. Here you can enjoy a pleasant walk through the garden as a place of historical interest and scenic beauty. We drive through the shopping district of Ginza. You will enjoy Japanese style lunch (only included in the tour if lunch option is selected at time of booking). We continue to Hamarikyu garden which is a typical Daimyo (Japanese feudal lord) garden in the Edo period with a tidal pond. Next enjoy a 30 minutes boat ride on the Sumida River. After the cruise, you have a chance to see Ninja and Samurai performances at the pier. At the end of tour, visiting the Asakusa Kannon Temple and walking down the brightly lit Nakamise shopping street, then we drive through Kappabashi area where restaurant supplies and wax food samples are sold, and Ueno and Akihabara.
