Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.

秀吉の功績を偲ぶ

秀吉の城・伏見桃山城の外濠だった濠川沿いに連なる、柳並木と白壁土蔵群がマッチして古き時代を感じさせる界隈です。
伏見「月桂冠」の旧蔵に展開している「大倉記念館」裏手の十石舟乗船場や、坂本龍馬と関わりの深い「寺田屋」から直ぐの三十石舟乗船場は、共に今期の営業を終了して、屋形船がまさかのブルーシートで覆われていたのは、非常に残念！
京都と大阪を結ぶ水運の重要な中継点を造成するべく、大工事を行った秀吉の富と権力を偲びつつも、コンクリート板の護岸ではなく、せめて石積みであったなら更に風情が増したであろうに・・と、「記念館」で購入した銘酒を手に、桜の季節の再訪を期して帰途につきました。

桜満開！

今回は、京阪中書島→寺田屋付近→大手筋→御香宮、足を延ばして、桃山御陵（明治天皇陵）へ行きました。その中で、最高の場所がやはり水郷ですね。前回、2010年の秋、紅葉シーズンに投稿しましたが、今回は桜シーズンの投稿です。秋も良いですが、桜の満開も最高です。写真をご覧ください。余談ですが、京都のおかき専門店、小倉山荘、の場所が寺田屋よりに移転しました。観光客で賑わっています。

酒蔵や歴史のある旅館や桜や柳が素敵な運河。

豊臣秀吉が築いた伏見城の外堀にあたる濠川沿いは伏見水郷とも言い、月桂冠をはじめとする酒蔵や歴史のある旅館や桜や柳が素敵な場所でした。

江戸時代は宿場町、水運の要衝地として賑わった場所でもあり、外堀は運河として酒や米、旅客の輸送船が運行してました。
現在は十石船などの遊覧船が営業してます。

川沿いのスポットを歩きながら回りましたが実に良い場所でした。

十石船のルートは再考の余地あり
月桂冠の記念館から歩いて2-3分で十石船乗り場に到着です。岸には柳が植わっていて風情があり、寺田屋が見えたりして、あぁ「龍馬伝」で草刈民代がお客を迎えた船着場はここかぁと感慨深い。水路をドンドン進み、折り返し地点で下船です。２０分ぐらい資料館のようなところで時間をつぶして、また船に乗り帰ります。資料館自体大したことはないし、わざわざ下船して見るほどのものではないです。だったら、もっと遠くまでクルーズした方が、季節にもよりますが、気持ちいいし、満足度高いと思います。

伏見水郷を散歩
伏見水郷は、京都・大阪間の交通の道として、江戸時代に活躍しました。発端は伏見桃山城築城の為に豊臣秀吉が造ったのでしょうか。酒を京都や大阪へ。旅人を京都や大阪へ運んだ足となり活躍したのでしょう。それを今現代人が楽しむことができます。寺田屋から伏見港までの水路沿いを散歩しました。すばらしいですね。

酒蔵の町を歩く

伏見水郷、ぶらり散歩。
新緑を揺らす風が、とても爽やかだ。
さやさやと流れる濠川に、浮かぶ小舟。
伏見城の外堀にあたるこの川は、水運で栄えた町の象徴だ。
川岸からの景色も、風情があって素敵。
白壁土蔵の酒蔵群に、吊り下がった大きな杉玉を見れば、酒飲みはもう我慢の限界。
さあ、日本酒三昧。
ご機嫌な１日に、なりそうだ。

有名な伏見のお酒がたくさん楽しめます

ここ伏見には多くの観光地があります。伏見城の城下町としてそして繁栄し江戸時代明治初期には藩邸が置かれ、現在はその石碑も所どころに残っています。
見どころは人工的に造られた水路ですがその周辺には酒蔵が建ち並んでいて月桂冠や黄桜もそのひとつです。
十石船を楽しむのも良いですが水郷沿いを散策するのもいいですね。

十石舟に乗船しました

十石舟に乗船しました。酒蔵の風景や川岸の景色が眺められ、さらに三栖閘門では下船して閘門の見学、舟の時間に合わせて資料館でのガイドさんに寄る閘門の説明など、とてもお得感があって、楽しい舟のツアーです。伏見観光に来たら、十石舟あるいは三十石舟はおススメですね。

もう少し舟に乗っていたいかな
十石船に乗りました。
風よけのプラスチックの壁があり景色を見るのに邪魔です。
動力で動き、観光案内は放送になります。
桜と柳が綺麗でしたが、距離が短いのが残念です。
九州柳川の川下りと比べるとだいぶ落ちます。

Sake breweries, a canal, and far from the crowds

This is an area of Kyoto that is famous for their water, which is used to brew sake. There are a number of breweries around, which offer tours, tastings, sales, and often have associated restaurants. There's also a canal, which I'm sure would be very pretty in the spring, would be a nice place for a picnic.
