Prior to the excursion, Caren was very helpful in giving us instructions via email on how to get there. We ended up taking a taxi to the location where Caren and her aide Mrs. Tanaka dressed my granddaughter and me in kimonos. It's quite a production! They did not have a huge selection of kimonos but we found some that we liked. There were so friendly and even fixed my grandddaughter's hair. Once fully outfitted in kimonos, white socks, shoes/clogs & purses to hold our important items, they took photos of us. Caren led us a few blocks to the Kinkakuji temple where she explained different areas. We strolled through the gardens and took more photos at the Golden Pavilion and other scenic areas. After returning to the restaurant, we changed and were treated to a wonderful Japanese lunch in a traditional teahouse setting. Very lovely experience - highly recommend this. The place is very close to bus stops where you can take a city bus of get on the City Sky Hop bus.

A little out of the way from centre Tokyo it was such an enjoyable experience. The kimonos were really beautiful and the English translator took some great photos. The tea ceremony itself was so calming and peaceful and it was well explained. It was great to get the opportunity to make your own matcha too!

The location was a bit tricky to find, located in a residential neighborhood (we were expecting a temple) but we called and they found us! Once we were welcomed to change into kimonos (absolutely beautiful selections), the host helped take some stunning pics of the family in traditional Japanese attire and one really felt stepping into centuries-old tradition. Then the tea master very patiently demonstrated the techniques and we sampled the delicious macha tea. The kids also had the chance to practice performing the tea ceremony and offer to the parents. It was definitely an unforgettable moment in time - as the calligraphy painting in the room implied “一期一会”! Thank you very much for the amazing experience! A highlight of our Kyoto tour and beautiful pics for rememberance! 🙏

We had an amazing afternoon with a maiko. She did the tea ceremony and then danced and talked to us and answered our questions and we even played games. It was a beautiful experience and we felt so welcome.

Emerse yourself in this one of a kind, traditional japanese experince. The ladies were incredibly nice, polite and helpful while putting the kimono on. They taught us every step and the history behind all the layers, such as the name in japanese. A calm, private experience where we were able to be a Master of Tea for a few moments.
Definitely a must visit!
Best wishes from Jessica and Marco from Portugal

This tea ceremony was brilliant. Loved the kimonos, and there were so many options to choose from. We had plenty of time to take photos, and loved the entire experience of it!

We had a very interesting time learning about the intricacies of the Japanese tea ceremony, and the varieties of tea and when they are used. We dressed in authentic kimonos that we picked from a selection of colours and were not surprised they cost so much, the quality of the materials was outstanding. My wife had her hair put up and fixed with Japanese accessories. The location in Kyoto was easy to access from the efficient Japanese railway. We traveled from Osaka port in just over an hour. We tasted the tea after reciting the appropriate blessings in Japanese and were given some green tea to leave with. An excellent Japanese experience and well worth the money.
