Our Kyoto guided walk was a great experience for my husband, me and our three teens. We all learnt something about Kyoto and Japanese culture, and Chris had some tasty food suggestions as well as advice on other places we could visit nearby. I definitely recommend Kyoto Guided Walks to other families.

I had a great experience booking a private walking tour with Chris to north Kyoto covering some of the must-see sights as well as some very interesting and local spots off the beaten path but surprisingly close to the main attractions. He is very knowledgable and friendly, would definitely recommend his tours to anyone visiting Kyoto.

Hi Samad, Many thanks for taking the time to write a review of your Kinkakuji, Ryoanji and Northern Kyoto private tour with Kyoto Guided Walks and it was pleasure to introduce you to some of the area's hidden gems and quieter, local spots off the tourist trail. This is one of our most popular half day walking tours so I'm happy to hear the pace also suited. I do hope your travels will take you back to Kyoto one day!

Our family of 5 enjoyed an amazing day in Kyoto with Chris covering sights in Arashiyama (Bamboo Forest and Monkey Park) as well as Fushimi Inari Shrine and Tofukuji Temple. Chris was excellent at engaging with our children (ages 10, 8 and 6) and helping them to connect with the cultural significance of the shrines and temples as well as keeping the day fun and entertaining by teaching them about some traditional Japanese toys and finding the best selection of ice cream for an afternoon treat. Chris was very responsive and easy to work with to plan our day so that we were able to enjoy a number of sights and local experiences, but not feel rushed at any point. We finished our day at Kyoto Station with a wonderful meal of ramen on the top floor of the station, a place that we definitely wouldn’t have found on our own. We very much appreciated his knowledge and enthusiasm throughout the day!

Dear Cynthia, Many thanks for taking the time to write such a positive review of your tour with Kyoto Guided Walks! I really enjoyed customising our day together to suit your family's interests and it was a pleasure to introduce everyone to Kyoto's unique culture while also exploring the city's local food scene and vast range of ice cream flavours on offer (the ice cream here is always a hit with children, even in winter!). Great to hear you liked the relaxed pace of the tour and I do hope your family will make a return visit here one day.

Good experience of Arashiyama with Chris. He made a well paced itinerary for us with plenty of hidden gems in Arashiyama. Well recommended if you would prefer an English(first language) speaking guide with good local knowledge.

Our large family group travels the world together. This year we found ourselves in Kyoto as a group of 16 ready for a morning stroll away from the intensity of the tourist crowds. Who knew a short note to Chris a few weeks in advance of our arrival would land us in the perfect morning in Kyoto. He met us at our hotel and guided us with ease from our hotel to Ginkakujin and the Philosophers path. We stopped along the way for tasty treats that the whole group loved and off the beaten path shrines and gardens. We had all ages from 5 years old to 75 years old and Chris made the whole thing work for everyone. It was a cherished and lovely moment of our time in Kyoto. When we return to Kyoto, Chris will be the first person I call. He has an awesome ability to tailor an adventure for the group as if he personally knows everyone and his knowledge/comfortable style makes the tour fun and informative. Beyond the wonderful tour, Chris also went above and beyond to try to help us make arrangements for other aspects of our time in Kyoto. He really is dedicated to excellence.

Thank you very much for you kind review Sara! It was a genuine pleasure to guide your extended family through Ginkakuji, the Philosopher's Path and Nanzenji and to see both the younger and older members enjoying the temples, gardens and food exploration over our 4 hours together. I'm also really happy to hear everyone found the tour both informative and fun despite it being a hot day. Hope to see you all back again in Kyoto one day and thank you again for your booking.
