First you see the gardens with your shoes on and then you go inside without your shoes and it's even more beautiful. Seeing the garden from inside feels zen and there are beautiful paintings of leaves, flowers, frogs, crabs, dragonflies, etc.on the walls. Lovely inside and out.

a very peaceful and quiet garden, beautifully created and stunning planting. A real haven and one we would certainly visit again

The bamboo forest is absolutely fascinating. If you are stressed, visit this place. Everything is quiet and peaceful (ok, except the tourists of course).

An 'also-ran', and quite possibly one which has 'seen better days'. Lighting gear for nighttime illuminations scattered around really detracts from the atmosphere, and rather officious staff. With so many gardens to see in Hirashiyama, give this one a miss?
