My family had a wonderful time. The experience was well planned out and easy to follow. We learned a lot about some of the basics of Japanese style cooking and ingredients. The food we made was delicious and the host and the atmosphere were perfect.

I actually attended the family cooking - home meal at home with Initia Cooking Class back in May 2019 around Golden Week, but TripAdvisor will only let me choose up to Auguts 2019. I'm leaving my review a year and two months later because I'm still using the recipes to this day. At the time, I went with a fairly big group of friends. We chose the teriyaki chicken with pumpkin and pickled cucumber dish and we were taught how to use Japanese ingredients like konbu (seaweed) to make dashi (soup stock). The meal was delicious -- nothing beats home cooking!! My biggest regret in this review is not leaving it sooner or in a timelier fashion, but hopefully it can be a testament to how good this experience is if I'm still remembering it a year and some months later. This experience gives an insight into Japanese home cooking and lifestyle that a foreigner, especially a traveler, may not typically see otherwise. I highly recommend it to any visitors or locals in the area.

Highly recommend as an excellent group activity that was a truly memorable experience and highlight from our Japan trip! We thoroughly enjoyed the cooking, food, conversations, people and beautiful home setting. The recipes were easy to follow and it’s been a treat recreating a little piece of our holiday back at home.
